Potential dodgy trip back from Manchester ahead then ??

It's still too early, and the 'best' of any snow will be in the East, but, yes, it could be tricky, especially as fans are being forced to travel overnight OR the next day.

Still a while to go before it can be forecast with any real confidence.

Is this the same beast from the east that gave us fck all snow over a wonderful 5 day opporunity 2 weeks ago ?

I'm ready for spring now. Snow had its big chance a couple of weeks ago and fluffed it's lines for most of sussex

It was indeed a shocking let down

Once again weather isn't confined to BN9. Don't judge the whole country by the few square miles where you live. If you want snow, move up north.

The vast majority got sod all, it was a huge anti climax, very cold yes, snowy most definately not bar a few people on top of a hill

Incorrect.

We had to go up north just last week to visit mother in law, who was seriously ill, and woke up to quite a covering of snow on Thursday morning. I don't think that even got a mention on the news. The pest from the west, it was called.

For reference, this diagram shows the average days with lying snow for the UK

snowlying_average_1981-2010_171.jpg

And this one shows the average with falling snow

you can work out the best places to live from these.

You're moving the goalposts a little now aren't you, you have moved away from temps. to precipitation and then to lying snow and then to its depth it's a big ask for the coast of Sussex to ever really satisfy your demands.

It was genuinely cold, exceptionally so for March and it was generally snowy throughout Sussex with a real chance of something quite disruptive that didn't quite deliver especially down here on the coast, but you can't just dismiss it as a none event you of all people must still be in shock at its intensity

In your backyard, maybe, but you didn't need to go very far north (or east, or west for that matter) to get disruptive levels of snow. IMBY we had several inches Monday night / Tuesday morning, then a top up dose on the Friday. Was all gone by the end of the weekend for us in Uckfield, but on my commute north into London on Monday it was blatantly obvious that the A22 between East Grinstead and the M25 got absolutely pasted on the Friday; there were still the remnants of some large snow drifts on the road side on the Monday morning. And even still in sheltered places on the Tuesday morning on the slopes above Forest Row there was still lying snow.

Away from the south coast there were good snowfalls in Sussex with the previous Beast.

Is that the vast majority of Newhaven?

Dress it up like you want, the snow event for most of Sussex was pitiful. Sussex had the lowest level of snow of any county in the uk

Can't attest to that last bit. Greater Manchester has been relatively dry the last few days, and the weather has been a balmy 12-14 degrees. That's like summer for us pasty Mancunians.
