Interestingly, there is a strong but brief signal for snow round about or just before midnight tonight. Take care on the way home, in case it's more than just a short flurry.

This plot for Westish London shows a 100% snow chance point, before midnight tonight.

Unusual. Would represent some back edge snow as the front clears through.


Also.... yesterday (not on here) I called a settled, benign and calm Christmas (with High Pressure nearby) and it still IS the most likely outcome, BUT there are some other options in there. See end of run.

Yep. Agreed. That's either the start of a signal for NE blocking OR it's just what the GFS churns out 10% of the time at that range.

Pal who works for the council parks and gardens up here reckons they are on Amber alert for Tuesday overnight into Wednesday , they were on a yellow for the last flumpage so things look like they could turn nasty .

Wednesday 12-6pm looks like a possibility? I’m always less optimistic when the forecast is for snow during the day. Needs to get dark to get proper cold and snowy down here.

Its usually the case that when a big snow event happens, every place is affected apart from 2 miles or so north of the south coast. IE where a lot of us live
