Snow in the tops in the Lake District and a light dusting on the North Yorkshire Hills. This was the top of Skiddaw this morning... 4E42A1BB-3EC0-4BCA-BB9D-268D6662B66A.png

Right - to kill to birds with on post here....

I've been flagging this up on Facebook and Twitter for a few days now, but best put something on here as well.

It's looking cold on Saturday for those travelling to Manchester, with snow possible from Central Southern England all the way to NW England (more likely at elevation) throughout Saturday.

It's going to be a wintry mix for most, but in a keen (30kmh) NW wind and with temperatures in the range 3-5C it will feel pretty parky. Wrap up warm and if you are driving, take car on the higher routes near Manchester.

This is the ensemble for the Manchester area:

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
Met Office site says 6 degrees and damp, but no snow in Manchester on Saturday.

I'd guess elevation and distance from the coast will make a lot of difference. As the ensemble shows it's roughly 50/50 for snow.

A few flakes falling in Ebbw Vale, Terry the brickie said there was a bit of snow in Llangenny.

There's a 60-70% chance of some flakes in Sussex later today, but it's unlikely to be anything significant. 80% in London this afternoon as well.

Just had a light snow shower at Canary Wharf.

Very festive.

Next week might see a colder repeat.
