One thing the Pro forecasters are stressing is the degree of uncertainty introduced into the mix by Atlantic Hurricane Alex, which the models will struggle to model as it interacts with the jet stream.

Don't focus on the detail - it's the overall picture that's key. The pivotal point is how the low moving in from the the West interacts with the relative High Pressure over the UK and the near continent. What we need is the low to undercut the High, given a WN->SE alignment of the isobars, which will allow (as above) cold air to be fed across England from Belgium, with low dew point temps. This will allow the precipitation to be snow here.

It's a fine line though, as too much resistance from the High and it fizzles out before getting here, and of course, too little and the angle will be too N->S or even NE-SW and we get the mild air pushing in quickly.

A lot to play for.

Seems that there is a good chance of snow tonight, Monday evening and maybe again later in the week Wednesday time as cold and warm fronts collide but the margins seem pretty fine and could go either way

That was like watching Gordan Greer try and catch up with a opposing striker after being nutmegged

Indeed. I can appreciate GG's fear as it dawned on me that I was never going to catch up with him before he ploughed into the bushes and stuff.

He survived with just the 4 thorns stuck in his face and was up for going again.
