Roll on spring, this Winter has been another awful one hot on the heels of last winter.

Only saving grace is that at least we've seen SOME snow and some were even lucky enough to see some lying snow (for a short while).

Still pathetic though compared to previous years!

Yes. Totally agree. However, just like any kid who grew up with the cold winters of the early to mid 80s, the last few years have spoilt us somewhat. Until 2009/2010 we'd had a terrible run of winters for snow. These 3 winters in a row were great. Now we're back to normal again, seemingly :(

We did have some bloody good winters in the 80's. We would go down to the beach ramp in peacehaven with our perspex sheets, bin liners, tea trays and spend hours sledging. Your right the 80's had some good ones, I have not seen anything like that since.

We had a few great winters in row recently.

Brilliant ones with real heavy prolonged snow and some impressive depths too.

Also for me were those days where we had deepish snow still lying and then next day or two more heavy snow on top of that.

Very unusual and great fun, just like the 80's.

I'm sure in the 80's it would hang about for a good couple of weeks. I do remember the amount of time we got off school. Used to listen to Southern FM in the morning and you just begged for your school to be read out on the closures list.

I was woken at 4am by Mrs Giraffe shouting "it's snowed, it's really snowed". Got up had a look, it was frost with the moon shining on it. Not happy.

I'd say sunny to start, but increasingly cloudy as the week goes on, as milder / cloudier air filters in from the NW. Therefore frosty nights to start and crisp days, less cold later (7-8C) and milder nights.

I love this thread. Pity it looks like it is almost closed for 9 months after what can only be described as a disaster of a winter for the snow lovers.

9302 posts later.

This graph shows posts per month which is generally a clear reflection of when the snow has come, or at least when NSC has got excited about the possibility!

So you couldn't get back to sleep after being awakened at 4am! Any chance of some pie charts?
