The atmosphere yesterday was diabolical and embarrassing.....

Brighton factually.....
A bit of back ground infomation about myself I have supported Brighton since the late 70s and our family moved up North when i was young and i continued to follow the Albion. As soon as i was old enough to travel on my own i would go to all the northern based away games, i continued to do this as we dropped down the divisions and when possible visting relatives down south i would vist the Goldstone. I eventually moved to London in the mid 90s and hardly missed a game home and away for several seasons during our troubled times traveling to Gillingham also. Then over the past few years i have got married and pick my away games in and around London and the south coast even Carlisle this year. I always said i would never set foot in Withdean as it would break my heart. However i moved back approximately six weeks ago and now i have found work and more settled (young nipper only a few months old) i thought heck i will go it cant be that bad...............................

I know it was end of season nothing to play for,but no singing..........

wheres the passion..........

Its clear to see it effects the players, it was like watching a training match. No wonder teams come here and thrive..........

Can i just say hats off to each and everyone of you that goes week in week out............

Is it allways that bad......... ?

How can our away support be so Vocal and so bloody quiet at home..........

I did here the bloke in front of me turn to his mate and say the cricket has more atmosphere than this...... ???

Thank you Billy for reminding us of how bad it is, that is why I rarely go to Withdean.

Don't know where you were sitting but the atmosphere in H block was just fine considering there was nothing whatsoever at stake

The Championship.
I've only missed Wycombe 1st round replay at home this season and it's not been great in terms of atmosphere but only one season left after this one and then we will be loud and make falmer a difficult place to come to ... (hopefully)

Block D ......... is that bad

I know we have no roof or nothing to play for and all the circumstance......

It just breaks my heart..........

I went to the match with friends from London who support West Ham and Bristol rovers who were down on a stag doo weekend tied in with the football who went in the Rovers end. The shit they gave me after the match about the atmosphere.........

Still as someone has pointed out only one more season to go..........

and as i said before respect to you all

You think Withdean is bad, well the Emirates atmosphere yesterday was shocking until Adebayor came on and then it was vile swearing and malicious chanting about guns around us. Not much getting behind the team. Ticket cost £60.

The atmosphere at midweek matches is better at Withdean.

The worrying thing is that there seems to be no way of ensuring at Falmer that you're not going to end up sat in the middle of the library unless the club designate an area of the ground as The Singing Section. Tis a worry, to be sure. Unless there's a non-allocated seating section which I don't think there has been announced so far.

There used to be an atmosphere at Withdean for the first couple of seasons but it has been shithouse since. I blame it on the nazis in fluorescent jackets whose agenda is to make it as miserable as possible whilst at Withdean.

When Barnes scored a chap further down from me turned to his partner when they were sitting back down after clapping and said "i hope we dont score a hat full today............. my back hurts"

I don't get how the argument works that our performances are poor because of the lack of atmosphere.

The away teams are able to perform in the lack of atmosphere. So why can't our team, that should be used to it, also perform? We perform at away games when there isn't a great atmosphere, so we can do it.

To be fair it's v interesting as H & J block do sing a bit but it actually sounds louder in the North stand than if you're actually in there singing! You won't hear anything in D block from it - it's just crap. A lot of people just give up with Withdean - roll on Falmer

The reason is because we don't actually play in a proper stadium, withdean is for school sports day meetings, not a professional football club, its ironic because in truth we have a very good fan following (save all the divs) but we have a terrible home pitch, so away matches are better to watch as we acknowledge that almost every club in our league has a better pitch than us, the situation will change next year, by then we will have played a season, hopefully we will get promoted to championship and even more hopefully we will have the most beautiful stadium in the south.

What you need is unreserved seating at the north stand otherwise i cannot see the atmosphere being much different at Falmer. The main west stand will be full of moaners so you can write that stand off.East stand will probably be family stand which i couldn't think anything worse then sitting with screaming kids.
The north is be our only hope.Plymouth had a stand that was unreserved seating which was a huge success. The club really needs to do there homework on this issue or they will put off alot of fans once they relise having a roof is not just the answer.

quite often those who make comments about how bad the atmosphere is at Withdean don't even know the words to the chant 'Seagulls....Seagulls....'

You're not wrong. Where I sit in E Block, there are a number of us who like to sing, chant and berate the officials and opposition players when the occasion calls for it. It's a shame that some of the so called fans around us don't get behind the team and join in instead of making pathetic comments and tutting about those who do. Fvck off to the North Stand or Family stand if you just want to come and watch, not support.
