Is this situation getting worse? I counted over 100 people abusing the system today, one group was about 20 strong! A lot of fellow queuers moaning about this too.

Clearly the stewards are not doing their jobs, but I don't recall this being a particular issue in the past? Some people clearly have zero manners or respect for their fellow fans.

Too many people taking the piss. Main issue is one person who might have a legitimate reason to use the lane, then their friends and family, and their hangers on following them. Seen groups of 20+ before using the Lewes ramp.
There's always going to be Clevor Trevers trying it on, given half a chance. Up to the club to set firm rules and hire senior stewards to enforce those rules, maybe with a police officer on hand to tell the Clevor Trevers the good news that they're being ****s and to direct them to the back of the queue

It’s a complete piss take. One woman claimed she was entitled to go down there because her dad (who I assume she was with) had a pace maker fitted. Hardly stops you queuing in an orderly fashion with everyone else.

Also the usual bollocks letting trains go when seats are still available and the first Eastbourne train left with the end carriage virtually empty. Stewards seem to be reluctant to let people stand in the aisles. Any other stadium in the country and carriages are rammed before the train departs. I can’t believe this shite still goes on after all these years.

Well yes the idiot platform staff letting the back of most trains leave empty is another major annoyance, it happens all the time!

Why would any disabled supporter need anyone else other than their designated carer to help get them on the train. Am I missing something ? What's with the entourage of hangers-on ??

It shouldn't matter a fig if they're related, etc. If a supporter needs assistance then shirley ONE person is the designated one, and everyone else is in line with the rest of us plebs.

What gives ?

Just needs the disabled supporter to be registered with the club with a small pre-defined number of carers (up to two adults for a disabled child for example). Then tell the jolly boys trying it on to just do one, and see that they are escorted - very slowly, and ideally via a roundabout route - to the back of the queue

One would expect if the person and designated came with others who they were then travelling with ie the driver ... then they do need to be on the same train etc.. but alas, human nature errs on the selfish and people will try it on... and others will see that and try it on the next time.

I don’t have an issue with any person who genuinely needs assistance being able to receive the assistance with their immediate friends/family. It’s people who don’t need assistance and take the piss which is the issue.

More registration really? You need a crutch/walking aid temp whilst an injury is heeling what you need a Dr certificate to pass? Perhaps a mimimum no. of carers/family members maybe max 2 per person but surely it just needs stewards to do their job use common sense its hard to believe anyone is going down the ramp in a wheelchair with a crutch stick or whatever with 20 others. Stewards simply need to do their job with common sense.

Disagree. Common sense doesn't enter into it. How does a steward with minimal training get to judge who is disabled and who isn't? Disabilities may be hidden etc. Definitely needs registration and a doorman-like "you're not on the list, you're not coming in" approach to filter out the chancers

Under the banner of “not all disabilities are visible” I can’t see any £10 an hour steward challenging any individual to an argument that would have a good chance of resulting in said steward losing their job.

I fully understand why the stewards appear to not give a shit. For them it’s not worth the aggro.

Edit: just seen the post by @Tom Hark Preston Park which I’m in agreement with
