Did he score or not? Oscar's press conference could have ben a Poyet press conference last season and the season before, bemoaning our players missing chances. Its a results business. Barnes, CMS in fact all the current side get the colleywobbles in front of goal. They cant score without missing numerous chances, until they change that, then none of them are worth much.

But to be fair, he does a good job wherever he has played, but I do agree down the middle is his best role.

Yeah of course he does, he is a good and honest professional but as I said, for the benefit of him and in my opinion, our team, he should be more selfish and want to play up front. He offers a lot more to the team in that position now that he has done the apprenticeship on the left he is ready to play centrally.

Let the midfielders worry about the midfield and let our strikers take care of striking. Simple as that for me.

His positional sense is the best I've ever seen from a player in the stripes.

What? Barnes was on the pitch for 30 mins.

Calderon missed four chances.

Barnes had two efforts, one OUTRAGEOUS scissor kick, and a near post flick with a world class save.

Barnes was superb. Played so well when he came on. The good thing is that the negativity on this board toward him (by some) didn't show on the stands today. He got a great reception and it was deserved

It seems to me that he's been judged harshly on performances where he's been played out of position. He has that uncanny ability of being in the right place at the right time to knock the ball in from 6 yards.

Barnes is a good striker in the Linekeresque fashion who WILL score goals if he gets the service.

Anyone who can't see that he is an asset to the team is a fully fledged member of NSC's "clueless nimrod" club.

He's one of the most inconsistent players I've seen in a long time. He'll go from having a blinder, looking like he could be our answer to the striker problem, then the week after he's shit. He's still young, and I reckon in 2 years time he'll be playing Premier League football.

Peter Ward was one of our most inconsistent forwards ever and he's GOD!! He could be out of the game for 88 minutes then score two late goals to win the match for us.

Ash just needs to carry on improving as he has done since he's been with us and he'll turn into a decent striker. Nobody can fault his work rate, he just needs to get 1 in 3 on target rather than the 1 in 5 that he does at the moment.

Barnes has never been my favorite player but thought he played solidly today and came across more mature when dealing with the ref. He is learning...

It is a results business. But in my view, Andrews' shot and some of Calde's efforts were missed chances. Ash had two excellent efforts saved by a keeper in inspired form and their MoM. They weren't missed chances.

He's been quality ever since he came back from that long ban. Hasn't had a "shit" game in ages so not sure what you're on about.

Calde is a left back. Spot the difference?

His performance was top class in the lone strikers role, THAT is what he is very good at. He needs to be more selfish for the benefit of his career, and our team.
For the benefit of our team, he needs to do what the manager tells him. Which is what he does. Excellent player.

He had a really good game. Thing I love about him is he can score all types of goals. Thing I hate about him is his temper and ability to have some really poor games after a really decent one. As others allude, he could be crap tomorrow night! But well played Ashley. Really good performance.
