I don't understand the thinking on Hauritz. He went back to the Shield, scored a century and took three wickets (having done a Michelle in the previous game) and the selectors ignored all that and picked some newbie. I know Warne rates him but he's still very new to first-class cricket and could get BATTERED. Mind you, Warne took some tap in his first test (and his second IIRC) but did OK.

Hauritz gave away a lot of his Australia kit at a garage sale at his house in Coogee on Saturday.
He obviously seems to think his international career is over.

Interesting to see whether Flower will go with Bresnan or Tremlett. Tremlett may offer the bigger threat, but a tail of Anderson, Tremlett & Finn begins to look quite long. Bresnan keeps the side's balance, which I think will win him the spot

I think he'll go with Tremlett purely because he's a better bowler.

I think Bresnan would have been more likely in a tight series against a team with a decent bowling attack, which obviously isn't the Aussies at the moment.

Getting excited, not long now.
Picking my mate up at 8.00am and getting train to WACA, might have an early night to make it come quicker.:smokin:

He was giving away (or selling for charity depending on who you believe) three year old kit which he could no longer use if he was selected. This story has been blown up into something more than it was.

I think (and hope) he is going to pick Tremlett. I am very hopeful that Tremlett and Finn may get a lot out of the Perth pitch.

Reading the Aussies all of a sudden Mitchell Johnson is going to be the Aussies star bowler on this pitch (even though 10 days ago he was so bad he was dropped!). If that is the case I am more confident with Finn (and Tremlett).

I think that this is partly because Johnson has a good record at Perth and partly because it's their only hope. If he's on fire, Johnson is the one bowler in the Aussie team who could scare England - the downside for Australia is that if he's off-form, he's REALLY off-form. It's a gamble that the Aussies have to take.

Johnson is a match winner if he clicks. He hasn't shown much sign of that recently. If we can get after him he won't this time either. Mentally he's a bit of a fairy. But let him get on top ..... and he's still a danger.

Can anyone confirm the times for the TV coverage? I think the matches start 2am UK time, but what time is lunch and tea and when does play end?

I do agree, but it just shows the Aussies utter desperation, 10 days ago he was bowling like a drain. Now he is going to turn it all around and be the best bowler on either side at the WACA, just because he did it 3/4 years ago there.

I have seen him play well against SA, but I have never seen him play well against us, lets hope it continues.

It seems odd that they drop him for Adelaide because he was out of form, he doesn't play anymore cricket, and then is recalled for Perth

This test is better for the sleep deprivation I reckon. Go to bed early at around 10pm in order to get up around 5am or so to watch the afternoon session and stretch it out til the evening session til you have to go to work. Then Saturday and Sunday you can watch the whole of the evening session. Happy days.

For no other reason that I was reminded of this today and it made me laugh

"Hughes may be small but he will not be intimidated, as he showed whilst scoring 195 against Surrey at The Oval. It was an innings that nobody who was there will forget. No Surrey bowler was spared, but Hughes saved his most savage strokeplay for Andre Nel, the giant former South African fast bowler, who he slapped all round the ground.

Nel's frustration resulted in him bowling a beamer that hit Hughes on the hands in front of his face. The bowler failed to apologise or check the batsman was okay. On regaining his composure, Hughes followed Nel down the pitch without his bat in his hand. It was like David chasing Goliath with Hughes saying: 'You're weak mate, f***ing weak, that's why you quit Test cricket to play as a Kolpak player because you're f***ing weak.' The umpire stopped Hughes before he got close to Nel, who did not turn round to confront his opponent."

It was a toss up between him and Bresnan, I agree Bresnan is the better batmsen but with our upper order looking solid so far it is a more attacking move to go with Tremlett who, if he bowls well, should get some life out of the pitch.

I'm not convinced. Banging it in short isnt the asnwer, especially to hughes and ponting who both cut and pull very strongly. I feel Jimmy A needs someone rock solid at the other end to help him get wickets and am worried that Tremlett will try and bounce it off his toes and prove expensive.
