Silly old bat
It's not just a training ground though, is it?

Why would we want to downplay the name when we can use modern terminology (see also: Elite Player Performance Plan) to describe a very modern and expensive complex?!

Are you miffed we don't play at the Amex Ground?

In short: you're talking shite.

Not miffed, just puzzled. I have an opinion which difffers from yours but doesn't make it shite.

The word "Elite" is the new word for the main group of players now, isn't it? You have regional development centres, you have a larger group of players at The Academy and then "THE" team, known as "The Elite Squad", I believe?

I'm intrigued as to what the "additional access rights" are that American Express will have as a result of this deal.

Does that mean their staff can pop into the changing rooms whilst Gordon Greer is having a shower?

Neither here nor there
We're all going to call it "Lancing" anyway - even more so with a name as unwieldy as that.

But a good bit of business from the club. Well done all.

Would be interested to know what Amex are getting out of their association with the club. Does it really increase their brand name, is it a PR exercise, or something else?
Not complaining just intrigued.

Community engagement, that sort of thing, it won't be mega money - Just like the stadium it's not really to do with growing the brand.....

As there are changing rooms there for home and away development squads maybe the Amex employees will have a raffle next time the Palace Academy team are down to see who "decorates" the changing room for them

Development Squad games are played at Culver Road, Lancing, or at the Amex.

Clearly they are hoping to join the big boys in sponsoring a Premier League team.

I believe the club wooed Mr American Express, on his last visit, to such an extent it was almost impossible for him to turn us down.
AITC played a massive part in selling the club.
AMEX staff are now heavily involved in their schemes.

I can't remember which Roar and which of the execs went into detail about it, I'm sure The Large One will tell you more.
But it's a massive investment from AMEX based around the wholesome community aspects of the club.

(They basically locked Mr American Express in a room with Calde and sponsorship deal, the rest is now history).

It seems people think the academy will be free to run... Got to be a few million per year at least. Sponsorship will
Cover most of the cost if not all of it so don't expect the playing budget to increase!
