Steward mate says they got nicked at full time. Would be interesting to hear if this is the case quite what happens. Surely palace will issue bans if they have any ounce of class in them...

much easier to collect the evidence (on cctv) during the match and them nick them after, rather than trying to drag them out during the match. Seems like the police were busy outside during the match.

Scary times to be a football fan right now. Bangers being let off.

Not sure if Boca Juniors and Napoli hooligans would be impressed?

Seemed more like fireworks to me & flares. But not nice that my mates little lad who loves the Albion & football was scared. Luckily we don’t have Argentinian style idiots in English football. It endangered people - that’s why it’s banned!

Cue "Our marvellous staff worked under unprecedented pressure yesterday evening".

The club had 7 months to plan for such evenings with both CP and the Police, with huge PL cash flows to afford as many police as they deemed necessary.

How the hell the stewards and then police didn’t act on that is atrocious. Must’ve been 10 ‘explosions’, flares & fireworks - even letting them off at the BHA at the end. At half time you find the little pricks in black and throw them out or at the very least search them. You could see the other palace fans were concerned for their safety and just staring. Very very poor show. Never seen anything like that in an English football ground - no respect for their own fans safety and scaring kids who live in a society where they hear of explosions killing people on the news. Scum.

Not the security team's finest hour either. How did the kiddies get all these explosives into the ground? What if they'd been terrorists instead of just wankers? And most of the smoke bombs came from exactly the same rough few metres area down by their crappy ultras flag. Not one sign of the stewards even attempting to intervene, they just stood and watched and didn't earn their money. They could have coralled an area of no more than about twenty of them earlydoors, done a proper search and nipped it in the bud. Still, I expect they'll have some rubbish ultra-grainy CCTV footage to review at their leisure from the safety of their office. Pathetic all round really.

I wasn't thinking any differently to you. Just mocking the scary 'ultras'.

Surely I can't be the only one who liked their bangers going off and the smoke bombs? Created a bit of drama. Apart from that I thought their support was pretty limp.

Yawn & bore off.

Fair play to them. The most interesting thing to have happened.

Flairs should be legal / standard- not reviled

The club have to take some blame. How did they let them get in and let it continue.

Not english football culture. Just look like a bunch of ****ing morons. Ruined the atmosphere completely. Palace were so much quieter than they have been before. Id be embaressed of that bunch of morons following my club. Hopefully they get ran out of town tonight.

I'm already surprised. Surprised that the kiddies were able to smuggle so many explosives into the ground, and surprised that the stewards didn't frogmarch everybody in the vicinity of their shitty flag away for a proper search once about the third or fourth smoke bomb had gone off in exactly the same place. Yeah, I'm surprised.

Serious security flaws tonight.

My concern now is that after the Palace idiots have set flaws off, got in without tickets and whatever else, there will be a complete crack down at the away game, and innocent Albion fans will have to suffer draconian measures just to get a ticket and into the ground, and will probably be kept back until breakfast time after the game.

Not the first time these morons have done this:

https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...helsea-v-crystal-palace-game?CMP=share_btn_tw

This was a couple of weeks after the Westminster attacks.

The fact that the club/police stopped other fans from entering because of their actions means that they are now seriously unpopular with a group of their own fans, who seem to be creating merry hell on social media. Palace will have little choice, but to roll out some banning orders. Palace will be well rid of these poseurs. We only had it tonight. Their fans have to put up with their 'never mind the football, it's all about us' attitude every week.

you make it sound like hand grenades were going off every 5 minutes.... they were smoke bombs or flares small enough to conceal down a sock, in pants, etc. Whilst searches act as a deterrent and would expect to find knives, etc they cannot be expected to be 100% perfect. And how would the stewards frogmarch "everybody in the vicinity of" for a proper search?
Get real - this is football, not a Royal Wedding.
