Exactly. They've sold this "amazing atmosphere" lie for years while fans of every other club have been laughing at them. It's even funnier now.The main thing I really don't understand about the whole'Ultra' concept is, they first copied the idea from the continent about 10 years ago.
Since then, they have been a constant in Selhurst Park, apart from a few Cup games against lower opposition, and yet, no other English club has followed their lead, no supporter instigated'displays', no droany Euro chants, no basic colour coordinated uniforms.
If this style of support was universally admired and envied, then, surely other clubs and fans woukd have nicked the idea, and by now we would be snowed under with faux German/ East European crowd bellendery, cos, football fans pinch ideas off each other all the time.
I would suggest the reason we're not snowed under is, most fans see it for what it is, embarrassing, and a substitute for a real organic atmosphere.
