Early doors I'd hear the likes of the following from my sister's room: solid air, here come the warm jets, astral weeks, and nico, clear spot etc. They got my attention.

When I started finding my own way (and spending my own money) these were pretty formative: heroes, all mod cons, unknown pleasures, two sevens clash, give em enough rope, live at the counter eurovision, imflammable material,

Can't settle on one but maybe a bias toward all mod cons which stands out as the jam were my first gig too.

Happy days.

Later I would stupidly 'lend' my copy of all mod cons to my cousin - never saw it again & to this day he claims he bought it. Fooker.

For setting me on a musical journey as a very young teenager in my bedroom - Confrontation - Bob Marley & The Wailers

For spending time getting stoned with mates - Dub Me Crazy Part 7 - The Mad Professor.

Still have both in my vinyl collection and still give them an airing occasionally

Gods country fortnightly
U2 - The Joshua Tree, pure class

When I was 10 (1977) I used to listen to Sparks a lot, my two favourites LPs at the time were Halfnelson and Big Beat.

In the 80s like a lot at the time it was Kings Of The Wild Frontier.

At 20 it became Our Favourite Shop (Style Council) and The The's Infected.

The one I use to educate my young son though is Pills And Thrills n Bellyaches

This is the album that was the 'seed', if I may, to your entire record collection. Not necessarily the first album that you bought, but the one that you played all the time because to you it was fresh and new and brilliant; the album that helped you through into adulthood when all you knew previously were those cassettes of Shakin Stevens or Cliffy that your parents had which were mostly rubbish, or the mainstream chart tosh that your mates were into; the album that you still have in your collection and will pop on occasionally and still love.

The album that defined your youth.

Mine was Low Life by New Order. I loved everything about it, from the brilliant tracing paper sleeve, through to the 8 class tracks. Factory vinyls also seemed much thicker than other records so just the feel in the hand as you slipped it on the player was quality I have never understood to this day however, why the 12" version of Perfect Kiss was not included as standard.

A real game changer
How on earth Love Vigilantes was never a released single is one of lifes great mysteries

It all started off with Who's Next

As I went through my teens I joined the Britannia Music Club and always forgot to cancel the 'Cassette of the Month' so ended up with a load of old shit in my collection, but also some gems. This club got me into The Allman Brothers Band and Cream.

The first albums by The Clash and The Jam were big moments for me, as was Quadrophenia and 'One More From the Road' by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Probably the albums from that time I play the most now, are 'Down by The Jetty' and 'Malpractice' by Dr Feelgood.

I was also partial (still am) to a bit of Disco, Funk & Soul

Bloody hell, there are so many, I can't narrow it down to ONE.

Never mind the bollocks for me, changed me forever and think it was at the right time at my age.
It just kick me like a mule, loved all the glam stuff before it but this was just different.
Loved it then and still do, Sure there have been a lot of albums before and after this i love but no other album has had an affect on my outlook on music such as this one.
