Not at all. That interview was recorded on Wednesday and as far as he was aware any decisions of this nature where going to be discussed when the board members go away this week.

There is a possibility that it had already been discussed, but if it had, there is no way that he would tell us on air

At the time the interview was recorded it was up to date.

Its never a waste of time.

That is fair enough, but if that is the case I would say that reveals either: a) a shocking lack of communication between PB and TB, or b) CH's sacking has been ill-thought out a bit knee-jerk. No critcism of you btw - love the show. Just frustrated when after all the emotional and financial investment in the club as fans, we don't always get the full picture and our support is taken for granted.

The Open Market
That's it for another season on the wireless for us.

42 shows (including two live onstage), 73 different guests, several recording venues (Open Market, Coastway, Rialto to name three) and a host of topics - mostly Albion-related, but the occasional lunge into the weird and the wonderful.

Our thanks to Radio Reverb 97.2FM for giving us the editorial freedom to (within reason) broadcast what we like and offering studio and technical facilities; to all guests who came on to offer their opinions and words of wisdom; to (of course) Mark Shelley and Superphil of oldfootballshirts.com for sponsoring the show - now for 10 years.

And thank you to all of you for listening in, commenting, encouraging, debating, praising, whining and contributing to the shows. Face it, it's what we all do at the Amex each home game...

We'll be back in late July, though do listen out for archive shows, plus the occasional special (in case something weird happens...) we'll be putting up during the close season.

We'll leave you with Ady, Al, Andy Bass and Nick Szczepanik paying tribute to Bruno Saltor and Chris Hughton, and with their thoughts on the 2018/19 season.

Summer well.

Cheers, Ady & Al

Want to know how the Albion Academy works? What the pathway for Aaron Connolly, Steve Alzate etc is from the U18s to the U23s to the First XI is? Or what Dan Ashworth's impact has been?

John Morling, Albion Academy Manager, spent an hour at Reverb explaining all...

On this weeks show, we were invited to London to interview the chairman.

Tony was of course a brilliant guest & was open about everything from his 10 years at the helm.

The show will air on Radio reverb 97.2 fm tomorrow at midday but the podcast will be available from 7 this evening.

Hope you enjoy it

Ady

Listened to this today. Pleasing to hear Morling speak about the [unnamed] scholar who has received dispensation from the PL to play down a year this season with the U-16s, as he is technically excellent but hasn't developed physically yet to the same degree. I was curious why said lad had been with the U-16s/U-15s in Iceland this summer for the Rey Cup and hadn't appeared for the U-18s yet. No guarantee that he will ever make the grade, of course, but the fact that an English club (and MY English club, at that) is willing to look beyond the physical and focus on technical proficiency does inspire hope that this country might yet produce players who are the technical equals of their foreign counterparts (I'm not sure that a player like David Silva would ever have been given the opportunity to develop if he had come up through an English academy).
