This March, RadioReverb is seven years old. And like any seven-year-old, we're funny, insightful, unpredictable, inventive and occasionally downright wilful. To mark that anniversary, we’ll be holding a "Reverbathon" fundraiser, broadcasting live from 8am on Saturday March 8th to midnight on Sunday 9th March 2014.

Radio Reverb doesn't run advertisements - all our show are free of news, weather, travel and ad breaks. Nor are we subject to playing corporate playlists. We have no audience in attendance. When I say 'LIVE' - it's not as in 'Cheers is filmed in front of a LIVE stoodio audience' - it means we're broadcasting live.

We sometimes record our shows on Friday evening if, for whatever reason, broadcasting live on Saturday isn't do-able (either because we're going to an away game, or the guest can't make it in on Saturday etc).

A fortunate happenstance.

The truth is that on the Saturday is International Women's Day, and Radio Reverb is celebrating that fact by having all-female presenters on that day. No real skin off our nose to move the show for a week.

The fact that we wanted Darren Balkham in, and Saturdays are generally a no-no to him, help us out too.

We have considered doing The Albion Roar in front of a live audience. The main drawback is that we'd have to hire a venue and equipment (Reverb has limited OB resources), and therefore charge people to come in.

Our studios are in Old Steine at the moment.

They have many empty rooms where you could broadcast from and I personally think it'll be a fantastic idea. Community stadium for the fans, Have you thought about going down this route? It makes perfect sense and you could allow a certain amount of Albion fans in on match days to witness the conversation.

Yes and no. While on the surface it's a decent idea, there are some issues around it.

Firstly, the club's 'official radio partner' is Juice FM, not Radio Reverb.

Regarding 'broadcasting', there aren't any broadcasting facilities in the club's name. It doesn't have a radio station licence. Also, the topography of the area means that coverage is limited. For instance, the Radio Reverb FM signal, which comes out of the Whitehawk transmitter can, on a good day, be picked up as far away as Arundel. Sadly, it can't be picked up that well in Falmer, which means that any signals coming out of Falmer would go... nowhere. Of course, the club could set up a relay system so that the Whitehawk transmitter can do the business, but they'd only do that if they set up their own radio station. Chickens and eggs.

If you're talking about broadcasting to people in the stadium on matchday - well, who listens to the radio in the stadium on matchday?

Next, the club themselves did something along these lines (a live recording) and, in their words '... it bombed badly.'

Finally, and I think this is the most important issue, not only are we independent of the club - we want to be seen to be independent. We have a good relationship with the club and we do collaborate from time to time.

We're by no means giving up the idea of doing what you're suggesting, and when I said 'Old Steine at the moment...', there's one or two things happening which could change what we do and how we do it. We've just been asked not to say at present what that is.

As Al said, we have discussed the possibility of doing a 'live show' which would be an audience with style thing.

It would be from a central Brighton location tho and we would have to charge for it.
