I'll add to the mix that I don't like filling in forms at the best of times and so to have someone say "sign here, here and here... right you're done" is very attractive to me.

This is why I went to a broker, having already found the deal we liked/wanted . . . With nearly 75% capital in the gaff it really was a doddle . . .lzy c*** still piled a shit load of paper work on us and hoops to jump through.

I put them in the same bracket as football agents, anything agents really. And consultants!

I can see the advantage if you're a self employed used toilet roll salesman with a straw house on a flood plain who needs a special deal. . . . But otherwise . . . Tinterweb

Can't see the point in them myself. It's not hard to understand the mortgage market and really easy to find yourself the best deals with a look at comparison tables from sites like Money Saving Expert.

Do your own as said above, I’ve used no fee brokers, presented my online researched mortgage quotes to them and they’ve said “I can’t beat that”

I think mortgage brokers / IFA’s etc are good of you are not one of the vast majority who are straight forward with regards to your finances and earnings .

You can in that case research in a short time the best deals available via the internet . Same for an IFA , if you simply want to invest in shares , why pay 2-3% to a IFA when all they do is invest your money with fund managers . You can do that yourself .

If you have complicated tax issues go to an IFA for investment advise but in most cases it’s not necessary.
