It's not my local by any means but I popped in the Quadrant by the Clock Tower yesterday for a mid-afternoon range finder and was charged £4.05 for a pint.

Have you been charged more than that for a beer in a pub in Brighton?

That's £2.05 for the beer. The other £2 is protection money.

I am told that Guinness is £4.50 in The Heath in Haywards Heath and has been for some time but I cant verify that as I dont go in there. Things will change in HH when Wetherspoons opens at The Priory, that is one of the good things about Wetherspoons to offset the many bad.

In 1982, as fresh faced 18 year olds, we left sleepy Worthing for a day out in London, ending up in Soho in this 'club', as the girl waited to entertain us the manager told us we had to have a drink, 4 halves of lager were ordered,

"That will be £36 please lads"

Which probably means that the £4 pint was around in about 1972 in this particular club!
