Neither here nor there
ESU was only about 50% full, if that and the North end of WSL was virtually empty
I was in central ESU and didn’t see empty seats in the blocks near me. Maybe it was different at the ends? North end and south end of WSL had plenty of untaken seats but I’d say both blocks were at least 50% full from my vantage point.

Excuse me. I sit towards the north end of WSL and it was most certainly not virtually empty.Around us was a good mixture of ST's in their normal seats and visitors.

When i cast my mind back to the Goldstone days my dad would drive us to Hove Rec from Patcham, a brisk walk across the pitches and on the East Terrace having left the Ladies Mile at 2:15 lol
Indeed, but there were also many occasions where you’d have to rock up before 2.00pm to guarantee admittance.

Indeed, that day in August 1979 we were obviously in by 1.30 even though i’m told myth or otherwise it wasn’t sold out….
From memory, there weren't any matches in which the gates were closed. I think the Goldstone at that time could hold 30,000+ There were bigger attendances than the Arsenal match that year.

Sussex, by the sea
Withdean years were fun, i could park 5 minutes away, get chips with curry sauce and be home within 10 minutes of game ending lol
Same, used to park the 1600E outside, or near the station direct from work . . .

Through my vintage tinted shades, I also seem to remember getting a train . . . . With a seat, from Little ole Shoreham town.
