Well done Ben, and thanks to Marcelo Bielsa for giving Southgate the go-ahead on this one.

Amazing news! Congratulations to the young man.

Gotta feel for Lewis though.
It must be a difficult set of emotions for him.

Personally I think Ben White probably comes across better off-pitch than Lewis does.
On the pitch is a different story and should be the more important factor, but so often isn't.

None the less I have no doubt Lewis will be watching every minute he plays and roaring him on,

With Maguire injured and Southgate reportedly favouring a back 3 I’d say White has a very good chance of starting first game.

I am thrilled by this, very exciting.

Although . . .

The combination of Greilish falling over all the time and JWP prowess with a dead all could have been a brilliant combination for us.

Still at least we've got two injured players to take.

Many congratulations to Player of the season, England's and Brighton's Ben White. Grateful thanks to Leeds votes for Ben, helping him raise his profile and value way beyond their own budget. Leeds, you had him in your team for Christsakes! You let him slip through your fingers!

Well done Ben.

Unlike the handful of other times Albion players have edged into the fringes of England squads in my lifetime, I suspect Ben will be there for a considerable time to come.

Delighted that Ben White is in the England squad.

Must admit I thought JWP was a cert after his performance yesterday. He coudn't have done any more and would've given us an extra weapon from set-pieces.

But it's clear that Southgate both values White and that there are still question marks over Maguire's fitness and the existing centre-back combination.

Either way, it's a very proud day for White and the Albion. Arguably the biggest since Steve Foster was included in England's 1982 World Cup squad.

Just think. If only Southgate had come to the Amex sooner, he could have taken the Albion back 3. Best English defence in the Premier League, therefore World?

Wow. Really thought he'd gone for JWP who's dead ball skills are superb and he's a decent midfielder.

Dunky must be gutted and pleased at the same time but can see GS gone for the youth.

Does the clubs profile wonders in attracting players to sign. First team players in the England, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands and Poland squads.

Great stuff.
