he is manipulating his supporters and detrators at the same time.
He isn’t ‘manipulating’ detractors I don’t think - pissing them off, polarising debate and trying to gaslight them maybe but ‘manipulation’ implies a position of weakness and gullibility from the point of the ‘victim’ - ( maybe a few NSC members are being ‘manipulated’ but most of us see right through him 😉). Neither the Dems nor the Biden administration are blind to the threat Trump poses to democracy in the US and the DoJ are not taken in by his rhetoric and verbal attacks on those trying to bring him to justice.

What I would concede to is that Trump and his allies are winning the social media war - what once was a bipartisan project to stop the peddling of lies/fake news and disinformation on social media has been very effectively eviscerated by Trump and his conservative supporters in the GOP and twisted into a counteroffensive that accuses the Democratic government of stifling free speech and censorship of Republican conservatives. In the face of court battles and wars in Congress, controlling the content of social media by those interested in limiting the spread of disinformation has effectively fallen by the wayside.

If he becomes president again he can pardon* himself and the court cases would have to stop.

Unless Congress (republican majority) vote to impeach him. And the chances of that are.......zero.

Trump has to become president again in order to shore up his finances and untouchability. The only thing that may stop him is a conviction before the election. And I say 'may'.

*This looks unacceptably bad to UK eyes, but it would be legal in America, and the president is like the king in the US, in that it is considered unpatriotic by 80 million plus to not bow down to the president. My president, right or wrong.

And let's not forget, it took the resolve of the conservative party to free the nation of Johnson. A man whose narcissism is beaten only by his laziness. Trump isn't lazy, sadly. And the republicans are not prepared to put the nation or even their own reputation and legacy above fealty to their Big Dog.
That is all correct but he can only pardon his federal crimes, not state or Civil.

His pressuring Georgia to find 12k votes the Fani Willis trial is state and he can't stop it, as his NY fraud trial etc.

Insurrection, classified documents are federal and he'll pardon himself.

My thanks to several posters who are keeping one poster busy. ( As if anything he said would make the slightest difference apart from that poster enjoying his soap box fame )

Most of the examples there are of literal blood being spilled and people dying. All of the examples that aren't about that, explicitly state what they are about. So if Trump had said 'a trade bloodbath', we'd know he was talking about trade. If he just says bloodbath, then he's talking about people dying.
Anyone facing you off over the meaning of words in context is on a hiding to nothing.

And one person on a hiding to nothing, presently, declined to engage with me recently when I pointed out something or another. Perhaps he had important things to do. Hair has to be washed, after all. ???

Ignore them - there’s a few idiots raising their ugly heads on this thread with the sole purpose of trolling - not worth engaging with them.

Clever bit of speech writing by whoever writes his speeches. Enrage the opponents while giving his supporters solid ground to take the moral high ground (in their own opinions of course).

This is the complex and devisive propaganda that may win him the election.

The person I have in mind has interesting take on things much of the time (even if I disagree with him much of the time) so I won't bin him off yet.

I think that some people get a bit too cocky with their perception of their insights. Couple this with lazy brief posts, often badly punctuated, and add in an unwillingness to acknowledge when their lazy posts have, on occasion, been exposed as crunk....it does get a bit irritating. An apology will never be forthcoming, sadly. That's a sign of weakness, of course.

I'm not triggered yet enough to do anything more than sigh. Most* posters are well intentioned. And some of us don't have the time for the Spanish Inquisition.

*Apart from those on my ignore list, of course :lolol:

When it comes to H’s ignore list, the Law of the Seven Degrees of Separation apply - we all know someone who knows someone who knows someone … 😎

you'd agree that saying there could be a "bloodbath" in US job opportunities with Chinese imports via Mexico*, vs a bloodbath following an election are very different things?

dozens of US headlines say the later, which when shown in context will be used as evidence there is campaign against him. probably the plan and everyone has played along.

*the premise is bollocks anyway, companies have been importing cars to US for years via Mexico. USian's aren't going to buy Chinese cars unless they are somehow better than others on offer, not because they are bit cheaper from being made in Mexico.
Not when he's saying it, no. His brain isn't wired to make that distinction.

No it’s your problem. It means you associate with Quislings.
Look it up.
Are you English?
Doesn’t seem to be one of your strengths

The anti-establishment Tucker Carlson is a quisling? I think you should look that word up. Nope it appears you have quite a few problems here, we are done here.

I will respond to you on this discussion then i'm done, there is only about 4 of you that can hold a civil conversation. All are arguing in bad faith and have made no attempt to give quarter over the issue, none. If you cant be conciliary to accommodate alternate views there is no conversation. I'm F'ing tired of it.
The above was Friday

And this today.

If you were 'done' on Friday why are you here again today? And are you 'finally' done now??

Dog whistle is a conspiracy theory. Anything that insinuates secret signalling due to a malevolent agenda fits the definition.
The 'conspiracy' part requires that numerous people are involved in the action.

The 'Theory' part suggests a idea that is created due to the secrecy of the conspirators. Rather than it being plain for all to see (well nearly all).

Apart from that though, yeah, bang on its a conspiracy theory.

Yes I know its short, the full clip shows he is talking about the US Car industry.

Oh, well that's alright then...

It won't be a bloodbath if he doesn't get elected.

Yes, yes he is
Lord Haw Haw re-incarnated

And yes, yes we are done
And yes, I have a few problems.

For example I’ve always been amazed how members of the population with low moral values and even lower IQ are able to vote in grown up elections. Beggars belief really, doesn’t it.
You know, the part where you need the ability to add a tick or a cross in a box on a piece of paper.

Cheers 👍👍👍
