Firstly Murdoch is no longer the CEO of Fox Corp and News Corp so he doesn’t come into it.

I’m afraid Fox News and Trump just about already parted company several years ago - certainly since Fox was sued a quarter of their annual turnover by Dominion back in 2021 for airing fraudulent election claims in the 2020 election. Murdoch testified that the 2020 election had not been stolen from Trump (which went down in the Trump ally camp like a lead balloon). Text exchanges revealed as part of the lawsuit show Carlson declaring, “I hate him passionately,” and saying that “we are very, very close to being able to ignore Trump most nights.

More recently, until Desantis backed out, he was Fox News‘s shiny new star. Fox news is a right wing news channel - it will never change its news content to provide airtime for the Biden campaign. Given Murdoch’s departure back in September and given Desantis is now gone, if anything Trump and Fox News may become besties again - they need their right wing candidate and Trump needs his right wing media exposure.
Fox corp is run by Lachlan Murdock. If you believe his father is going to let him get on with it without interference then you are delusional. If it looks like Trump is going to lose the centre of GOP then Fox News either goes with the democrats and the centre leaning Republicans or Fox can fight it out for the smaller right wing element, many of whom think Fox News has sold out. At the end of the day it’s all down to Monet which means viewers and advertisement.

Is he any relation to Lachlan Murdoch? 😉

You were talking about Rupert Murdoch not Lachlan. You didn’t even mention his son. But that doesn’t change one iota, what I was saying:

Trump is not going to lose the centre of the GOP - Trumpism IS the GOP now bar the minority moderate/left - Desantis endorsed him and there is only Haley in contention who will never win the MAGA base. He holds a solid majority of Republican senators in both the House and Senate. He has won over all segments of the Republican party on Capitol Hill.

If you are waiting for a GOP resistance movement against Trump, it is you who are delusional my friend.

As I said, Fox News will not ‘go over to the Democrats’, it has a strong commercial market in right wing voters amongst a MSM News channels in the US that have a left wing bias. It makes no commercial sense to compete for the same left wing audience as CNN or MSNBC.

Trump and the Murdoch empire maybe uneasy bedfellows but your reading of it that Fox will turn Democrat and give airtime to Biden’s campaign rather than build bridges with Trump is off the mark. They need each other as I said.

Perhaps you weren’t aware that while Hayley and Desantis were slogging it out under fire in the live TV Presidential Campaign debates on CNN, Trump was sitting in the Fox studio doing live interviews answering soft questions in front of a Republican studio audience?
I didnt think I needed to mention Lachlan ….

at this point Fox should should be full I’m MAGA but they are not …

May I interject? Anyone who thinks voting for Biden is a good idea is a moron. Let’s be equally hateful.
The absolute worst president (x 10) in my time living here, seven and counting.
That's a big call, what policies or decisions are you using to come to this conclusion?

Do you agree he won the previous election fair and square?

Can I just say I take great comfort in the fact that you are 5,000 miles away. We dodged a bullet there.

and you base your opinion on what metric in particular? Hint: we need facts such as inflation, growth etc rather than a statement containing the word “socialism“.

Yes as in 2016, but for the reasons I said above - Fox fell out with Trump and vice versa primarily over the 2020 election results/Jan 6 riots. And that relationship hasn’t yet ‘recovered’. However, with Trump gradually making a thorough sweep in the GE poles and early Primaries/Caucuses voting, I think we will see a ‘new Fox-Trump’ relationship that is more circumspect on both sides but nevertheless very codependent and very intense between now and November. I’m not sure it will ever return to Fox News being the mouthpiece of Trump though - too much water under the bridge on both sides imo.
Get what you are saying but the Dynamics of changed. In 2016 he was exiting and different, in 2024 he has multiple court cases coming up, big links to Epstein which considering he lost a civil case regards sexual assault doesn’t bode well, the deranged tweets and his obvious diminishing mental health capabilities then it’s a very different story.
It’s only a matter of time before his backers turn on him …..

Ironically, it’s as some Trump supporters said, the court cases have only resulted in Trump increasing his voter support (incredible that this is) and he was still elected in 2016 even after this and 3,500 court cases already to his name

His deranged Tweets have been a feature of Trump’s political career since he first ran. His mental capacity was also under question while in his first term (to the extent that it was even considered whether Art 25 should be triggered).

None of this is new apart from the election interference case - being imprisoned or the Supreme Ct ruling he can’t run will be the only issue that will stop Trump or his support crumbling.

(I wish I had your optimism though)

It's sad that so much of the American public feels so disillusioned with their political system that they rally behind a character like Trump, it feels more like political movement than a presidential campaign. Trump comes across as an outsider and political rogue which seems to have inspired millions of Americans.

I'm struggling to see him failing to win the election and what's most depressing is it wouldn't really be any great surprise.

Funnily I'm not being optimistic. For him to win he needs the ’floating voters’ who are by their nature not hard core Trumpies, and are much less likely to vote for him With all the crap he’s in.
I reckon he’ll have a health issue that will prevent him from running but will also keep him out of clink because he’s a coward and shit scared of doing time…..
