it would be deep irony if they created a new branch of government to deal with inefficency wouldn't it ?

Its totally fine, Trump and Musk are totally sensible people to vote for and the answer to people's economic problems.
Smart vote from smart voters.
Well not sure why you repeatedly go to so much trouble in writing woosh responses to my posts unless of course you are being serious -in which case we wonāt see eye to eye on this.A statement from the Trump transition team, external says that together the two men will "dismantle government bureaucracy... cut wasteful expenditures" and create an "entrepreneurial approach to government".
I can't see any dangers in Elon doing this, they are going to change the way the American government works, just like their madate tells them too.
Also the appointment of Pete Hegseth who was a Fox news achor and platoon leader in the national guard also seems like a solid appointment as defense secretary.
thats the US system of government. their cabinet, government department leadership and many layers down are appointed by the President. thousands of posts that we'd see as impartial senior civil servants here, are political appointments because of work done in campaign. might not think its ok, it was the same under the other Presidents....
Elon Musk is a far right multi-bIllionaire who has used his money and privately owned social media empire to gain UNELECTED political influence. That is not ok if one thinks electoral accountability is an essential part of liberal democratic governance.
I also canāt agree that an ex-news anchor off a hard-right news station is a suitable background for Defence Secretary.
That should go well, what with Trumps excellent history of running his many companies.....together the two men will create an "entrepreneurial approach to government".

Afaic - Anyone who thinks gutting the department of education and environmental protection agencies is a good idea has clearly drunk the kool aid of Project 25.

And Twitter is of course, far improved since Musk took over. That should go well, what with Trumps excellent history of running his many companies.....
Musk is arguably the most successful businessman on the planet so will have a better grasp of minimising waste and improving efficiency than career politicians. Trump is a different story though. That should go well, what with Trumps excellent history of running his many companies.....
Musk bought Twitter for $44M which is now worth $9M. According to Forbes, heās losing money in other areas too.Musk is arguably the most successful businessman on the planet so will have a better grasp of minimising waste and improving efficiency than career politicians. Elon Musk Is 2024ās Biggest Billionaire Loser So FarāPending His Big Bonus
The net worth of the worldās next 25 richest people rose by an average of $14.4 billion, but Musk remains the wealthiest man on earth thanks to his diverse portfolio companies.www.forbes.com
It didnāt collapse but itās now a hellhole of misinformation, harassment and pornography. Those sacked might not have kept the place going but they mostly kept the people using it safe.It doesn't sound like he has much of political remit from that. He does have form when it comes to finding efficiency at Twitter - sacked how many people? The company didn't collapse though, which suggests they weren't doing anything useful.
Yep but itās the lack of accountability I have an issue with. Powerful lobby groups are bad enough in any liberal democracy but when you start tasking individual multi-billionaire sycophants with a fundamental restructuring of central government then that is a problem in my book.thats the US system of government. their cabinet, government department leadership and many layers down are appointed by the President. thousands of posts that we'd see as impartial senior civil servants here, are political appointments because of work done in campaign. might not think its ok, it was the same under the other Presidents.

Maybe then use emojiās to make it clear you mean the opposite of what you post and being sarcastic because if itās humour it is not coming across very well - especially to those who struggle to read motive and intention behind what people post online anyway. It really is very little trouble to be honest.
To be clear, it is my sense of humour, a little dry for some tastes but there you have it.
The new defence secretary was a platoon leader in the national guard though, don't forget that bit.
Heās still worth $308B and the richest person in the world. According to Forbes X is worth around $14B. Itās like someone with $3M gambling with ā¬400k and the value dropping to ā¬140k. He did it for a reason and Iām guessing he thinks itās paid off. Donāt particularly like the guy but, he has more of a clue than career politicians. He's also the man who thought he could make Twitter more efficient by firing the coders who wrote the fewest lines of code (i.e., he fired all Twitter's most efficient coders).
The people have voted for this restructuring, it is literally Trump's mandate.Yep but itās the lack of accountability I have an issue with. Ok then for my own peace of mind, I will not respond anymore to your posts because my autism makes it very difficult to understand when you are being sarcastic or being serious since you give no clues - I have no idea if your last response was passive aggressive or your idea of being funny.
Could I BE any more ironicI know that sarcasm doesn't jump out at you, which is unfortunate, but BadFish shouldn't need to change how sarcasm is written.
When Chandler would say something sarcastic on Friends, he'd have to end it with 'not' for the audience to get it. That's not the British way. Instead, we like to say something completely ludicrous with a straight face, and trust that others will find it as mad as we do.
Like you say, a right win Fox news anchor as Defence Secretary - it's completely bonkers. When BadFish described that as a 'solid appointment' your irony meter may have snapped off the dial.
