Brighton u23 currently leading the behinds doors friendly against Worthing, looke like Worthing are sharing updates on Twitter

Nice match report, but it would have been nice to include the Brighton team list as well, and the goal-scorers. Anyone able to share that information?

A Pakistani twitter account mentioned that Layth Gulzar scored one of Albion's goals, but that is all I have seen.

Yeah the complete lack of info on the line up and scorers makes me think that was a deliberate decision for some reason, some younger trialists maybe?

I don't think it is anything more than the club, generally, being tight-lipped about most things related to the academy. Last season the exact same fixture was played and the only report was (as this time) from Worthing. There were also friendlies at Lancing against Eastleigh and Readings' U-21s which received zero coverage from Albion.

It can be very hit-and-miss though. They DID report on a friendly last year against Brentford B (which included two trialists - one was partially named in the report and the other I figured out from photos taking by Brentford's photographer) and they streamed a friendly against Worthing three years ago which had a trialist playing upfront (no idea who that was).

Home first team friendly against Villarreal announced for August 10th 3pm kick off.

I was going to say it’s not that much of an appealing home friendly seeing we played them in preseason recently but it turns out that game was in 2013.

This. I'll be PROPER annoyed if it's (inexplicably) an evening game like last year.

Will be my son's 2nd game - Brighton 5
Good stuff. Hope he enjoys !

PS: Wasn't last year a 3pm KO on a Sunday v Rayo Vallecano. ?

Brighton's line up v Villareal 11 years ago when we lost 3-1 in Oscar Garcia's first game in charge.
Dunk, March + Crofts & Calde (as coaches) last men standing.

Albion (4-1-2-3): Kuszczak (Ankergren 46); Bruno (Chicksen 61), Greer (Dunk 80), Upson (El-Abd 62), Calderon; Bridcutt (Ince 90); Crofts (Forster-Caskey 62), Orlandi (March 70); Buckley (Dickenson 80), Barnes (Barker 80), Ulloa. Subs not used: Brezovan, Maksimenko, Richards, LuaLua.

A kid letting out a scream during a minutes silence for a train crash in Spain that had happened earlier that week and Barnes scoring after about 2 mins are all I remember from that game.

Funny how you remember stuff like that. I recall someone shouting “hang the bastard!” when there was a minutes silence for the Soham girls, when we played Wimbledon at Selhurst about 20 years ago. I can’t remember anything about the match.

I hope this friendly is linked to a deal for Álex Baena, his 14 assists in La Liga last season indicate he might fill a Pascal Gross shaped hole.

£20 plus travel isn't overally appealing to me, tbh. I always find I have to be so disciplined with pre season friendlies as I'm missing going to the Albion but then when I turn up for a pre season match, I just think 'what am I doing here?'
