Sarmiento subbed off at 61 minutes - Burnley fans not impressed with the manager taking 'their best player' off, although there was a hint that he'd had a bit of a knock. Seems he's having a good loan spell there, in the fans opinion anyway. If anyone's interested in a sample................

Seems that no-one's nailed down the LB spot for them - Samuels on loan in January maybe (I don't think the 'can't have more than one player on loan from the same club' rule applies to the Championship - I think it's just a PL thing).

The main two loan rules for EFL clubs are

  • A club can sign no more than 4 players from any one club over the course of the season (and only two of those players can be over the age of 23)
  • A maximum of 5 loan players can be named on the teamsheet for a match.

Burnley currently have 4 players on loan so Samuels could join them without taking them over the 5 in the match day squad limit. They can sign more but they would have to leave players out each week.

Guess Scherpen injured too - not in the Sturm Graz squad; Yalcouye starts though.
It was reported back at the end of November that Scherpen is having further knee surgery. This was planned after his injury last season but was scheduled to be done in the winter break, however the clubs agreed to bring it forward to try and get him fit for when the Austrian club starts playing games again in late January.

What's left after the storm.............

Early starters - Beadle in goal, had a lot of work to do to earn Massive a 1-1 draw against PNE. Andy Moran's Stoke almost grabbed a point at high-flying Sunderland, but lost to a late goal.

Championship games - ACD on the bench for Blackburn, no place in the Pompey squad for O'Mahony.

League 1 - Blackpool's match postponed, so an afternoon off for Offiah, and Doyle on the Exeter bench.

League 2 - No BBB for Port Vale, Tom McGill gets a day off as MK Dons' match postponed, and Luca Barrington is on the Grimsby bench.

The rest - Ben Jackson on the Livi bench, but no Nilsson at Partick. Sturm Graz and Feyenoord kicking off later.
About ten minutes apiece for Barrington and Doyle; ACD got a 25 minute run out.

Nothing new but Sevilla manager García Pimienta continues not to trust Barco in tough games. Thursday's Copa del Rey tie aside, over the past week, Barco has watched Sevilla draw 1-1 with Osasuna and lose away at Atletico 4-3 from the bench.

Thanks for that. Wonder if he'll be going back there, or moving to a loan slightly less ambitious than the Championship.

He can't go out to another club as he played for us in the League Cup earlier in the season so he'd break the no more than two clubs in a season rule. It's either he gets a full recall or he remains at Portsmouth. We do have the option of somewhere like the MLS or Sweden/Norway that has an overlapping season but I'm not sure how useful a move to those leagues would be for his development.

Ah.....OK. Back to Pompey and hope for some more game time then (or back here if a). we don't think he'd get enough game time there, or b). he might be useful in the PL2 if Duffus and Peupion go out on loan.
It says he'll resume the loan in January when he is fit.
Again, thanks. Good luck to him (but not too much to them!)

Albion in the CL again tonight - Abdallah Sima came on for the last 20 minutes or so to help Brest see out a 1-0 win over PSV..........only minutes to go now.

Back home, Sarmiento played the full 90 for Burnley;
Andrew Moran dropped to the bench for Stoke, came on for the last 10 minutes or so;
In the Albion derby at Hillsborough, Beadle played the full match, while ACD came on for the last few minutes for Blackburn (who won 1-0).

His best game for us by all accounts. Our manager resigned a few days ago so maybe he’ll keep improving under new leadership.

Welcome back - thanks for the input. Have you got a new manager yet? Why did Brady go, do you know?

Thanks..assistant manager in for a couple of games or so and if he produces will probably get gig til end of season..especially if it looks like he can keep us up for an almost unprecedented 2nd L1 season. Think JB is a very intense person and took all the recent poor results very personally. He’s stepped down for the good of his mental and general health I think. Wish him all the very best, as until recently he’s been great for us..a passionate advocate of all things NTFC.
