The 08/09 Season Ticket League Table

say 4000 people got a season ticket, thats £500,000 paid out for buses a year??

I dont think the bus company put out a service on matchdays to justify our payment to them, maybe we dont actually pay them and thats why the service is so piss poor??

Don't forget Southern Railways, we have to pay them too.
By the way where did you get the information?

The value on the travel voucher is an estimated value across the board, taking into account potential train/bus/parking savings. It isn't phyiscally worth £4. The club pays an agreed figure to the various travel providers for each voucher they return to us; in addition we also have to finance the park & ride buses and various rentals, road closures etc concerned with the park & ride sites. So while we encourage you to use the travel voucher, those of you who walk not only are doing your bit in terms of the traffic and travel monitoring, but also saving the club a few pounds too. Thanks.

This should make it a bit clearer.

Someone on here said it was £125 of the season ticket that went towards travel vouchers.
Season ticket sales are generally around the 4000 mark

so as a round about figure i multiplied the 2 together :)

No I meant the season ticket table, where did you get it from?

Looking at those tables you would have to say that Villa is an absolute bargain, some decent players with fairly attractive football, a reasonable stadium and atmosphere...plus a fair chance of a top six finish.

The figures are all over the place

Coventry £277 is for early birds in the corner blocks, it goes up to £344. Other areas of teh ground go up to £362, then £454 then £499

Our cheapest seat for early birds was £362, going up to £426 (£462 if pay in installments)

SO the comparison with Coventry is £277 to £362 and at Coventry you have to pay for the park and ride service which ranges from £5.50 to £8 per vehicle.

Someone on here said it was £125 of the season ticket that went towards travel vouchers.

No they didn't. They said that season tickets "include approximately £125 worth of park & ride in the price". I read that as saying that the cost of the free travel with a match ticket would be about £125 a season, if people had to buy the travel themselves off the bus or train company. That's not necessarily what the Club has to pay.

If you bought a one day City Saver ticket on the bus, it would cost £3.20 a game (or £73.60 for 23 games). That's what the Travel Voucher is "worth" to an adult living in the Brighton and Hove area (extending out to Shoreham, Lewes or Newhaven).

If you use the trains, the Travel Voucher can be worth more than that. A day return train ticket from Lewes to Preston Park is £3.80 - making the Travel Voucher "worth" £87.40 for 23 games.

The problem si the facilities not the price.

A season ticket at Falmer for that and i dont think many would complain.

IMO the problem is the facilities AND the price.

Remember we are in the third tier of English football.

I would also question some of those figures - I have a Chelski supporting friend who pays far more than the 500 quid or so quoted, yet he claims that he sits in the cheapest part of the ground (family stand excluded.)

Yes the facilities are not brilliant but apart from a roof, they are probably better than what was available at the Goldstone! I don't think facilities and price are the real issue for falling gates and it is more likely that, prior to last season we had a crap home record and then last year the results improved but the games were not exciting. If MA gets the team playing well and withdean sees some great games then people will put up with the facilities as they are and pay the price to get in more often than not.

Another thing, I believe we are unique in that list of 92 clubs as we are a club in limbo surviving on shoestring due to our circumstances. Lets have cheaper season tickets and entrance and watch the club plunge down to League 2 and possible further. Do you want to see the opening of Falmer playing in the Blue Square (of course by then it will be a scaled down version of falmer as well)?

Absolutely disgusting is the only way I can sum that up. For £100 extra or so you could get a ST at Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, or St James Park. Travel voucher (which it sounds like the club don't have to pay for if you don't use anyway) or not, it's a rip off, and I'm amazed attendances actually remain as high as they are. I know we're in a fairly unique situation, but there's only a certain minority of people who actually CARE about that. All the floating fans are lost because of PRICE, and nothing else.

Absolute rubbish. Floating fans don't go because we don't play good football and don't win. Price is just an excuse to justify their absence. I am not blaming them but if we are winning and playing attacking football at the withdean next year the crowds will be up.
