Unwell but still smiling
One of the greatest moments of my life was seeing her talk about her experiences when she released the second part of her autobiography, which of course covered the early part of her life.
Our best Prime Minister since Churchill & I feel honoured that I lived through the Thatcher years as an adult. This country went downhill economically after her time. She put the Great into Great Britain. Will be fondly remembered in years to come, when her successors on both sides will long be forgotten
I can understand why the unions hate her. She unleashed a war against them and broke them permanently with anti-union legislation: some good (banning secondary picketing) and some very bad (allowing companies to apply for injunctions to ban strikes on spurious technicalities).
She detested the TUC for what they did to the Tories in the 70s and she deliberately killed off our coal industry just to remove the NUM from the political battleground. And I do honestly think that she saw widespread unemployment in the North as a fair price to pay for making sure that the TUC never again brought this country to a standstill.
When you've seen your industry decimated, your town turned into an economic wasteland and your friends and family all having to deal with long term unemployment then I think they are entitled to feel hatred for the woman, even now. I don't think us southerners understand fully how bad things were.
I write this as a lapsed Tory so I certainly don't hate her and won't cheer her death but I can empathise with that feeling because when Martin McGuinness dies I'll feel exactly the same way.

You want us to hang a little old Lady with alzheimer's?
Feminists HATE her for her lack of solidarity and corrosivenessMargaret Thatcher
Feminist icon;
Took GB from being Europe's 4th poorest country to being the worlds 4th richest country;
The UK population was stagnant/falling during the 1970s as the economy faltered;
During the first years of Thatcher's reign fewer people came to live in the UK from abroad;
Before Thatcher came to power there was net migration from the UK. She reversed this;
Life expectancy increased from 70.3 men & 76.4 women in 1979 by 3 years for both in 1990;
Union membership fell from 1:4 to 1:8;
Days lost to industrial disputes shot down from around 900,000 lost days a month in 1979 to 183,000 in Nov 1990;
Economic policies helped steer the country away from bankruptcy, stagflation & economic meltdown;
Nobody wanted to invest in UK industry back in the 70s due to its unreliability & constant strikes & it wasn't until Thatcher came to power that things started to improve;
Freedom to buy your own house 'Right to Buy';
Transformed GB into a land of shareholders;
Showed the rest of the world that Britain will not be bullied aka Falkland Islands
SHE GOT THE COUNTRY BACK ONTO IT'S FEET AFTER THE USUAL LABOUR COCK UP.
I agree that they background picture has not been thought through, and the punctuation is bad.
But, the message is valid. Unless you want to live in a censored society.
Fact remains, Thatcher f***ed up everything for a whole generation and beyond.
This is true....but it won't stop our class envy society friends finding fault I'm afraid with the rich verus the working class.....even though she herself was a grocers daughter.Margaret Thatcher

Some correct punctuation might make people take it more seriously.
as I read it: Trade Unionists will be dancing on the graves of people who thatch rooves
I will. I live in Sunderland for a year in 87-88. What she did to the North was inexcusable. Not just to mining either, she killed shipbuilding as well.I am certainly not a lapsed Tory, could always reply "No" when people responded to discussion with "Well you voted for her", but I certainly won't dance on her grave and i agree with every word you say. having visited earlier in the year County Durham and having driven around much of the area as tourists, it is a very sad experience and the people there don't deserve it.

Feminists HATE her for her lack of solidarity and corrosiveness
Financial deregulation of 1980s, e.g. building societies becoming profit making banks (later would be involved in credit crunch of 2008)
Immigration went UP during Thatcher's years not down dispite her rhetoric and support of the National Front
Life expectancy went up due to 11 years of medical advances and better nutrition even though as schools minister she took the milk away and in spite of her disastrous handling of the NHS Regular winter crises in the NHS became the norm. The Tories argued these were inevitable because we couldn't afford to fund the NHS properly. There are no winter crises anymore!
Union membership fell by 400,00 because she closed the pits and destroyed the heavy industry in the north (Although you have the numbers transposed and claim a rise)
See above for number of industrial days lost but no British Gas Coal Railways Water Electric Telephone (All nationalized and unionized)
Monetarism! Disastrous policy of trying to control money supply. In the first of her two recessions (the worst since the 1930's), one fifth of our industrial base is wiped out and unemployment is more than doubled, there are summer riots in every inner-city in the country. Not bad for her first 2 years in office!
People did invest in UK economy but that traditional industries not the yuppies of the city that Mrs T favored
Right to buy an absolute disaster for social housing we now have the longest housing waiting list in Europe.
Stole the nationalized industries and sold it back to the public to fund tax cuts we all owned the privatized companies before she sold it back to us well the French.
She did not get the country back on its feet she killed British society There is no society just the individual.
Really google is your friend might take the rose tinted specs off
