Some how I knew you'd be along with your dreary arrogance. It's VERY SIMPLE - the Wheel applied for an extension to their stay - the council rejected it because there was a clause in the i360 deal to prevent competition due to the PWL. The wheel was considered competition - the zip wire is completely different and so isn't.

There was no logical or planning reason for the council to reject the planning extension. Planning Officers recommended allowing the extension - it was politicians who rejected it.

Getting rid of one just because the other attraction had been built would have been a bit like saying they'll demolish one pier once the 2nd pier on the seafront was completed.

I went on Sunday to have a look and it was full of muslims....blokes going down the wires and their massive families in burkas etc cheering them on. It was a very multi cultural experience and nice to see.

Also, has everyone noticed how many Chinese students and Chinese visitors there are in brighton these days. We must be coining it in. Wonder how many want to come and watch the albion?

No idea. It was council policy from when they realised the i360 was going to take longer than expected (around 2007-08 ish), and they allowed the temporary structure of the Brighton Eye to go ahead.

The planning officers recommended approval as it ticked the appropriate planning boxes. However, it was refused as it wasn't part of the council's own policy. The planning committee is within its rights to go against officers' recommendations. That's not 'dirty politics' as Westdene Seagull's fantasy would have you believe - that's them just following through on their stated policy.

Er, The Eden project is about generating as much hard cash as possible... was down that way once and we had a half day spare and thought of visiting, the prices were eye watering. Go to Garden Paradise in Newhaven instead and save about £20 on the entrance fee and save the planet the £60 its going to cost you, and the planet, in petrol.

The 12/12A/12X buses are full of Japanese tourists, who have the Seven Sisters park & Cuckmere valley, on their itiinery. It is actually recommended for a visit back in Japan.
