That was horrendous - we should be embarrassed!

Absolutely how i saw it too. Well done Lincoln. They are now very distracted from their main objective - winning their league

There's also a mismatch in priorities. For a non-league side to reach this stage of the cup is pretty much the financial equivalent of getting to the Premier League. What I mean is that they had already banked almost a season's worth of income from their cup run prior to this game and an away draw at United or City or Arsenal will mean they are financially set up for a couple of seasons.

Even if their promotion campaign was affected by this run this year (and it probably won't be), it gives them every opportunity to have a proper tilt at again for a number of seasons.

It's an entirely different situation than it is for a Championship or PL side.

Today is the day, Chris will come to rue.

Well I for one hope that you are wrong.

Oh, and if you could please pick up your toys in the morning and put them back in the pram/box we would all be very grateful.

"It's been a while since I've felt so overwhelmingly angry at a performance,"

Really???

I'm honestly not too bothered by it. One less distraction in what could be a truly momentous season.

Worthing
Giant killing has happened every single year and to much bigger "mis-matches" than this one. There's no explanation for it apart from possibly "desire" and it has absolutely no bearing on the league competition

Yeah, agreed - but if you were a 'squad player' maybe hoping to break into the first team wouldn't you have tried to turn on your very best performance? That wasn't my impression from the 5 live commentary...

Yes I would have expected better....for some to put themselves in the frame, and for others to get more Cup game time by getting to the 5th round

But embarrassed? Nope. I have come to regard the FA Cup as the Club do. It's taken me a while but nowadays I'm really not bothered.

No excuses: two/three/four internationals on show, Goldson (good enough for the premier league - meh) Chelsea 'hot property', Steven (been there done it) Sidwell, Murray... a truly disgraceful second half from all and sundry. Make no mistake, this is an utter embarrassment and a disgrace to our shirt.

Here's an idea; if you're going to play in a football match - actually try!

It's been a while since I've felt so overwhelmingly angry at a performance, but those players should all donate a weeks wages to charity. Shambolic.

They played with heart, passion, desire and no little talent. So well done to them, but we made it all too easy with that feeble reposte... or lack thereof!

One word for Thursday: momentum.

Today is the day, Chris will come to rue.

Idiot

Embarrassed, yes.
Whitehawk beat Lincoln in the FA Cup last season.

So Brighton had a completely different side out then...

Dickhead.

Meh.

So, sigh... I'm a dickhead for wanting my team to play well, and ermmm win against a non league team? Bearing in mind we had, at differing times, 5 full international players on the pitch...

Yeah mate, we passionate supporters are 'real' dicks.

Piss off.

Just a cut and paste from what I said on the other thread but...

Can some of the moaners on here just **** right off? It's only an embarrassment if you genuinely feel shamed by it, I'm not buying half of this "We should be embarrassed" bull****. You know what's embarrassing? Having a chance at the big time, for realistic eternal glory that WILL be written into the club's history just as boldly as any of our achievements so far-and some people are more concerned about whining and making a huge deal out of a complete irrelevance. This had to happen, it was for the best whether you like it or not. If we are completely honest, without exaggerating to appear more outraged then we actually are, did Lincoln outplay us? Not really. First half was controlled and good, second half less so but the three goals we conceded were a soft pen, an own goal from a youngster making his first professional start, and a mix-up at the back. These can happen at anytime for no particular reason, and unfortunately they happened all at once today-****ing get over it. The application was never going to be as high as the league (GOOD) but it was hardly unacceptable. If you can't deal with this tiny lapse which let's be honest, is actually much much better for us in the long run-then I suggest you shouldn't be supporting Brighton.

Are those the supporters who feel let down we lost to a non league team or the ones who aren't bothered?

Those aren't the only two options you know. I'd have loved us to have played well today and won 6-0, but those players are not used to playing together AS A TEAM (god, how many times do I have to stress the difference between a team, and some players). I am happy that we haven't dropped 3 points today. I am NOT happy that we lost.
