Have any of these refs even played the game at Sunday league or youth level when they were kids. Do they understand how tackles work. Are players supposed to be robots now.

Also worth remembering that joke of a pen VAR gave them at their place which also resulted in Dunk getting sent off… Forest can’t really moan esp when their bloke could’ve gone for two yellows much earlier.

It's encouraging to see that over 70% didn't view that through Albion-tinted glasses.
Yes, we've seen worse against us not given (as a red), but there really is no doubt that Moder should have been given his marching orders.
Sometimes....just sometimes...things actually do go in our favour.

As others have said, the fact that it was low probably saved him. However if the Ref saw red, VAR wouldn't have overturned it - mad isn't it? The problem is consistency unless you go to a micro level i.e below the ankle = yellow or above the ankle = red, which obviously isn't going to happen.

I can see why they stayed with yellow, but also understand from a consistency perspective if they went red. I can also sympathise with Notts Forest.....

It seemed fairly clearcut at the time and nothing I've seen since suggests otherwise.

As with many such decisions the only mitigation I'll give it is the challenge looked increasingly worse the slower it got.

I also thought their Nr 6 should have got a second yellow for simulation when Lallana bumped him in the last few minutes.

The weekend that Gilmour got his red, there was a lengthy debate about the Harry Maguire challenge that only received a yellow (leaving aside the usual top 6 bias) the consensus was that Maguire only deserved a yellow due to the fact that the impact was lower than Gilmour's.

Therefore for consistency Moder deserves no more than the yellow that was given.

At the ground, I was fully expecting the ref to be sent to the TV screen to review his decision once it went to VAR.

Having see the replay, was amazed VAR didn’t give it.

Knew he was in trouble as soon as he’d made one challenge then dived in for the second, it never looks good.

On the pitch, it was exactly how it should’ve been dealt with in the modern game. Salisbury calmed everyone down, took his time, and decided not to make a hard decision and put VAR in a corner where it had to produce irrefutable evidence it was NOT a red to overturn it.

Personally, I think that there was enough evidence for Pawson to overturn the decision on VAR and send Moder off, I’m surprised (and glad) that he didn’t.

This is the problem with VAR/officiating football these days. Sometimes it would be a red, sometimes (Like today) it wouldn't be.

So, was it? Who knows?!
