Like I said earlier, if you go for an overhead kick now then you are risking being sent off apparently, because it’s dangerous yet I’ve not once seen a player sent off for one of those overhead kick attempts. It’s hard to comprehend that Biss will get a 3 game ban for that, yet a player could go up and punch someone and get the same ban

or the player that took lamptey out (we had to take him off to protect him from further injury) gets a yellow and will be playing next weekend.

Reckless (absolutely not intentional) so a red for me....think it’ll be 3 games but cup games count so Preston will help (and he wouldn’t have played anyway).

Shouldn’t take the gloss off an exceptional performance by him. Gelling really well with Alzate.

1 straight red can mean 1, 2 or 3 match suspensions, depending on the offence.

I think he he hoped more than knew where the ball was when he swang his foot back. To me it looked instinctive the way his leg swang as far back as it did until there was contact with the ball.
Red seems debatable but definitely a yellow.

In all honesty I think he knew after 10 seconds, but if you’re there take your time and view a couple of angles / shots of it to confirm.

I disagree. Accidental or not, you have to "red card out" high kicks that could lead to a player losing an eye. Shearer was wrong when he said he didn't realise the player was behind him.

Was it violent conduct? In which case a three-game ban, instead of one for serious foul play.

FA defines violent conduct as follows. Surely doesn't apply to Biss?

I was flabbergasted when both Murphy and Shearer went against the red card. Watching the match live i thought it inevitable it would end up a red card. Not nasty, but dangerous and stupid.

So every overhead kick should be a red then as a player swinging a boot around in the box at head height is risking players eye's? As others have mentioned, the incident doesn't actually fit with the charge or violent conduct according to the rules of that is what he was sent off for. At the end of the day, if Alan Shearer is saying a red card wasn't the right decision against a team playing against Newcastle I'm confident in my conviction that it shouldn't have been red.
