The foot path that you went down THPP is the way us disabled people have to go. I have written to the city council to ask why there is no disabled access to the new path. I live in Moulsecoomb and that new path would be ideal if it wasn't for those steps.

Didn't realise that. Don't think it would take much for a slope to be added as an alternative to the steps. Hopefully the city council will be able to sort that one out pretty quick. Hope so.

Gormless question of the day: If I wanted to get to Fiveways/Preston Drove area, anybody know if it would be quicker to walk up Coldean Lane (sticking to pavements) then across, rather than walk down Lewes Road then across?

Shortest walking route to Fiveways is probably to use the footpath that links Home Farm Road (the right turn off Lewes Road just before the railway viaduct) with Crespin Way, crossing Queensdown School Road just behind Moulsecoomb station, then wind your way through Hollingbury: Crespin Way/rt/Thompson Road/lt/The Crestway/rt/The Crossway/Hollingbury Place/Hollingbury Crescent. May be better for afternoon matches than evenings.

Gotta just mention the charming rustic scene I came across yesterday just beyond the gated tunnel; two elderly Albion fans picking blackberries from the hedgerow. And no more than three metres away, a guy in the stripes having a full-throttle slash against the selfsame hedgerow. Perfick!

According to insider there are bike racks dotted around the stadium. I've not been all around the stadium, but did notice some beside the the train track opposite the club shop (there's usually an ambulance near to it) those aren't covered.

Which path back to coldean lane did you mean, the one that goes through Falmer school? I walk that way, and it's not been too busy (once you get bast the train bridge).

This shows a couple of routes through moulsecoomb to get to lewes road if you use the path through falmer school.

We cycled for the first time yesterday, up and down Lewes Road, but on the Stanmer Park side, we went under the Subway and locked our bikes under the new train footbridge. However on the way back its difficult to cylce as the path back to Coldean Lane is very busy.

How easy was it to retrieve your bike from the station? Did you get it straight after the game. I was thinking of cycling Tuesday and thought it might be a bit of a bind post match with the train queue - you must need a sensible and sympathetic steward/police officer who understands you're not trying to jump the train queue!

There are bike racks dotted around the stadium if you don't want to risk that particular rack. The only ones I've seen so far (because I haven't had a chance to truly explore the outer stadium yet) are marked in red (top left):

Same. The club does have some say apparently because Mendoza asked for it to be unlocked when we did Bike to the future.

I asked someone at the school who told me it I only locked when the school is open to stop kids running out and strangers coming in

He said it would be open for the ride, but unfortunately it wasnt

I cycled yesterday and really enjoyed it. I went Acker79's route keeping away from the busy Lewes rd.
I gave myself plenty of time arriving with a good feeling that i've done some good for my heart and the environment.
I would say if your thinking about cycling, do it. You'll feel good about it.

I had a look yesterday, there is a barrier separating the train queue and bike racks

We were parked on the Lewes Road side under the new railway footbridge, it was really easy to get straight after the game, keep right as you cross the new wide footbridge as the train passengers file off to the left, then we just told the steward we were collecting bikes and they let us through and watched us to check thats what we were doing (another steward turns people back trying to push in).

Other people also collected bikes while we were unlocking ours. If you do not want them under cover loads of people locked them to the railings between the cycle path and the station building to the left as you come out from under the subway. If I cycled that way I would be tempted to go around the new road with the traffic on the way out, however the last bit of cycle/foorpath towards Coledean and the Hikers rest is still narrow and too busy to cycle on.

I think it may be easier to lock them around this new path as the crowds may disperse quicker that way.
