Haven't heard it at the ground yet so reserving my judgement. Watched the YouTube vid and my initial thought is could be ok if you get a big number singing it. Small number looks a bit crappy though.

Utterly awful, with terrible lyrics. We've been singing it for a couple of years now, and nobody has been able to do it better.

Why do you think that your lot can? We use the original lyrics, your modified version is terrible.

We'll show you what a REAL atmosphere is like. We add a few extra songs per season, and they aren't just copies from other English clubs. They're either from clubs like Marseille or completely original.

Typical Brighton to be jealous of their arch-rivals, but let's face it... You've been jealous of us for decades :)

Why are we called the Seagulls again?

This is the point i made on a previous thread...besides they nicked it off Celtic/St Pauli/York/FC United amongst others!

Looking at the vid of the chavs doing it reminds me of a bunch of over exited window lickers on day release...oh hang on...

Have you not changed your name yet?? I see that your lot are beginning to realise that Murray is a bit of an oddball, he might start scoring a few in 3 years time, but i suggest you buy Elliott Bennett from Norwich first, just to be on the safe side!

What's more funny about all this is that it clearly winds you the hell up. Don't pretend it doesn't

And we WERE jealous, no question. We aren't now though. That winds you up even more, as evidenced by the number of Palace fans recently registered on here. I love it, I love it, I love it. In fact that's the way I like it, I like it, I like it.

Enjoy

The comparison with the Seagulls chant is not really accurate. Mocking 'Eagles' with 'Seagulls' showed a bit of wit and fun-pokery.

Palace aside, it would be nice if it was a song the whole ground could join in with - and just shouting West or East Stand, instead of North Stand will sound terrible all at the same time.

And, for the record, I have spent 20 minutes or more bashing away at songs to get them going.

Just think that if this NSK thing is priding itself on creating an atmosphere etc it could come with its own songs. It is not like there are not about ten millions tunes to chose from...

The seagulls chant started after we'd heard Palace do it, it wasn't a mocking riposte at the time, if it were we'd have chanted something like "Beagles" (like palace fans chant 'seaweed'). We were impressed and wanted something similar, also we were impressed that they'd managed to change their nickname, apparently spontaneously, from 'Glaziers' to 'Eagles'. None of us liked the Dolphins name and at the next Albion game there were a few people chanting 'seagulls' and it grew from that.

If you want to explain away us borrowing the 'seagulls' idea a better line of attack might be to say that at the time (1975) the two clubs weren't rivals (it was before Mullery). Palace were really just another London club on a par with Fulham, and thus there was no sense that we were copying hated rivals; after all we (and other clubs) had borrowed 'Knees Up Mother Brown' from West Ham and 'You'll never walk alone' from Liverpool, so nicking a Palace chant was no big deal. A year later and there might have been a lot more resistance to copying a Palace idea.
