Yes I'm glad he didn't get a slap and he covered up his shirt, but he could have met someone that had far too many pints of Stella.

The first time we played Palace at the AMEX i saw a Brighton fan, replica shirt over jumper type, standing outside the West Stand before the match shouting abuse at every Palace fan that passed him.
Luckily for him the stewards saved him as a small group of Palace lads ( not wearing colours ) suddenly appeared and went towards him.
Every club has its morons sadly, if a few Palace lads had rocked up then fair enough start a thread but to abuse a shirter is a tad cringe.

The Palace 'problem' is more endemic than a lot of people think. Otherwise known as 'Connery-McCartney Syndrome' there are Mongol hordes of 'proud' Palace fans enjoying a higher quality of life living in Sussex than they could ever hope to enjoy 'back home' under the depressing slate grey skies of the SE postcode area. NSC's own regular whipping boy VHA was forced to take drastic measures to escape his slice of SE23 hell by uprooting his life to North Carolina, a location people from South Baltimore look down their noses at.

Earlier this year on holiday I wandered down to the pool in my Brighton shirt, with my Brighton Towel. After a while a couple with the guy part of the couple in a Palace shirt grabbed some sunbeds near ours.

Did we fight, turn each others sunbeds over, spend the day glaring at each other or move because I couldnt lay in the sun near a Palace fan? No it actually was an ice-breaker and gave us something to talk about at the bar.

I must be such a bad Brighton supporter, fancy talking to and having a beer with a Palace fan!!

Sadly a lot of my best mates are Palace fans, thankfully like 99% of regular football fans, its just good banter, be pretty sad really if it was more than that.

facepalm...facepalm...facepalm.

Goodness sake, I've already said that a few hours after this I was happily enjoying a pint and a chat with a Palace fan. My issue was specifically with another Palace fan wearing the shirt to a Brighton game. Some people agree with me that he was out of order, some disagree but please don't extrapolate this as anything but annoyance about the shirt at the match. The Palace fan I was chatting to, by the way, agreed with me that the Palace fan at the match was being a nob and shouldn't have done it.

Indeed. On a Gran Canaria beach the summer before last a Palace father pointed out the 'undesirable' crest on my BHA hat to his young son in an attempt to educate him and we went on to have a decent chat about the state of the game and BHA/Palace. Transpired that he lived in either Sompting or Lancing (surprise, surprise)

Palace fans are all over Sussex. On BBS, they have names like Behind Enemy Lines and Down Amongst The Scum, when they have chosen to live in God’s Own County.

Not something to get worked up about imho, especially on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

I know of a Lancing-based Palace fan whose children have used the facilities at the training ground. He chose to move from South London to Lancing, yet rubbishes Albion’s work in the community, calls Albion fans “plastic”, and considers an Albion defeat better than a Palace victory. Yet he is happy to use Albion’s facilities.

To move to an area, to root yourself in a community, only to denigrate the club whose best efforts reflect well on that community, seems rather pitiful to me.

Haha! You're the one with the 'watching football is like watching a band' analogy aren't you? If you think that's true then I'd respectfully suggest that you're not quite so normal as you claim.

Think judging by the replies and support, I may be a tad more normal than you think my friend.

It was almost full cloud cover by about 3pm on Saturday, although still warm and fairly bright, so hardly a valid point (imho)

Fair enough. But weather aside, still not worth getting one's knickers in a twist about.

Or maybe he was a Palace fan wearing his Shirt as he is a supporter of his club, it's a free country. Just because he is fan of another club as he parents probably took him to see them when he was young, what's the problem ? Why do we get all upset over? Would you be upset if you went to see a band and someone was wearing a t shirt from another band? Grow up, it's a free world. You should have just had a chat with him about why they have a drummer, or goal music and a silly kit, just a bit of banter, no more, pathetic in my book.

You're past it

Nothing out of the blue there I'm sure Irons and Millwall fans most likely work together or socialise in some form or other but come match day we all know its a different kettle of fish. Its part of the fun of being a football supporter.

What would you have done Das ?
Would you have steamed in and battered him, or realised he was a scarfer ?

He's far too hard to go to games nowadays!
I for one love the hate/banter with palace/teams, makes it all more exciting
