4 years ago to the day since Seb pinged that free kick top corner away at QPR.

I didnt get a ticket until the day of the game as I was out of work and couldnt really afford it, however something told me I had to be there that night and it was easily one of the great I was there moments of that season maybe ever. The away end was absolutely electric that night, I was stood with non of mates who were in another tier surrounded by randoms but everyone was in full party mode. Take me back to that night!

We sat in the restricted library section, where you had a better view of the Sky """"pundits""" (who were being heckled)....than that goal.
Still great to see the reaction of the Albion fans once that free kick went it, a sort of delayed reaction :)

Another view...

That was the night I knew we were going up. Got hairy at 2-1, and they missed a pretty good chance from what I remember, and it just seemed like it was destined.

I left work (Heathrow Airport) without a ticket. Went to Loftus Road and got a ticket in the home end. Then managed to persuade a steward to let me in the Brighton end. Fantastic night.

Wonderful night. The night we knew. Going absolutely batshit in the vertigo-inducing upper tier.

Not being someone who overdoes the pre match drinking, I too somehow got dragged into that 'Brighton' pub. Once in, the drinks were just flowing everywhere. The guys I arrived with, who I'd never met before, bought a round after which I reciprocated and this carried on. Luckily we all got kicked out with a police escort to the ground otherwise I'd still be stranded on a side street somewhere.

What a night that was!! The next morning I had amazing bruises on the backs of my legs from jumping around in the cramped seat rows.

How dare you remind me of the game I missed! I had two tickets for the game and was looking forward to the match until our daughter, very generously, offered me and Mrs.Punal the chance to visit her in Mexico where she lived. So, my two tickets went to a certain couple of diehard Albion fans (father and son) from Bournemouth

While they and 2,000 other Brighton fans were cheering on the boys I was stuck at Heathrow Airport pacing up and down waiting for the final whistle, and waiting to board the plane, - whichever came first. At 9.40 I dared to check my phone as we were called to board, and there it was FT 2-1!! I knew then that we were promoted, and so it proved.

I missed three of Albion’s unbelievable performances that season - that one at QPR, the 2-1 home win against Sheffield Wednesday and, while enjoying the delights of Mexico, our promotion party for the Wigan game. Oh well.

Love the fact we are finally dining at the top table but every now and then there’s no harm in being reminded that in some ways the journey can be better than the destination.
