Just thought I would mention the good eggs working in the East Stand Brasserie (Caterers). Immediately after the Millwall game my mate bought us two pints of Harveys in there. Paid with his credit card, but didn't check the receipt. When he got his monthly statement a few days ago, instead of the £7.80 he saw he had been accidentally charged £70.80 by the girl who served him who had been struggling to use the till as she was new and under pressure in the after match service crush at the bar. Luckily he kept the CC receipt which only showed the amount, not what he had purchased, so he had no way of verifying his story

At the Derby game we called in about 2.30pm and spoke to the manager and explained, expecting a battle and to be told tough, you should have checked the receipt at the till etc etc

Well, none of that, within ten minutes his CC was reimbursed with £63.00 by two of the friendliest management staff possible. Both were good humoured, friendly and extremely understanding and very apologetic for the error of their staff. They even gave us a pint of Harveys each on the house.

E-Mail on way to the club and caterers to say a very big thank you. Outstanding service.

Question has to be asked as to why the CC hadn't been refunded automatically? The till would have been over on cashing up and an audit of receipts should have highlighted the overcharge. Shoddy work by the cashier/manager on the day. Of course multiple mistakes could have been made on the day and the error may have been hidden within other errors.

This reminds me of the time I was charged £95 (instead of £0.95) for a Sunday paper, when settling a hotel bill in Saffron Walden. Even when challenged at the time, the woman behind the desk had difficulty in accepting that it was she who had made a mistake.

Well done for spotting the error. I would have assumed it was another Barber price hike and begrudgingly accepted it.

Certainly in my shop, the CC machine does not record the entire account number on the merchant receipts or day end records to prevent fraud. Even if they had spotted it, I very much doubt that they could do anything about it.

Good stuff from the staff that they rectified it. A very good example of Customer Service!

I was once charged 170 quid by Dominos for what should have been 17. The bloke over the phone who ballsed up was entirely useless, and though his boss refunded it straight away it took a couple of days to reappear in my account. I did get the pizzas free though.

How did you know you were charged the £170 over the phone? Did they tell you before the Pizza's arrived?

Captain BallsUp admitted it straight away."I've accidentally charged you £170" he said. Could have been much worse had it inconvenienced my Mortgage DD etc. Not the end of the world though as it stands.

Oh. I did wonder how that worked! Oh well at least it was spotted there & then. Home made Pizza's are always nicer anyway :)

Bought a flat screen TV from DABS online. The credit card kept failing each time. In the end they charged me 3 times. They refunded it after a month, but quite pleasingly, I got Airmiles for all 3 purchases.

They would know till out by that amount especially as quite a bit.
You tell them the exact amount it is out under plausible reasons.
Obvious they should refund it.
But to thank them for correcting a mistake....
