Lord Bracknell
On fire
Even if he had never been anywhere near the Albion, I'd keep him very close to the top of my list of unpleasant individuals I've had to deal with in the past.
I know what you mean, where would we be now if we hadn't had the Goldstone sold from underneath us? Probably still be there (with some more South Stand-like terrace to seat conversions) with no hope of a new ground as everyone would say we didn't need it. But 'thanking' the gruesome threesome for setting the events in progress that have led us to Falmer is a bit like 'thanking' the Luftwaffe for helping to re-develop the East End of London.
I met him at the high court Dec 93 I think (was that the day of the Beeney Sale?) and he came across exactly as above. When it all started to kick off with him & Archer a few years later, my mate (non-albion) reminded me of our meeting with Bellotti and I quote "not the same bloke I met, he was okay, are you not a little prejudice against him?"
Well Dave, no I f***ing am not, the bloke was a ****, a weasley, slimy, prick who I have no doubt fiddled his expenses and if he had of found a way, would have sold off the houses or parliment under the governments nose and preached that he left the government in a better state than he found it.
Only thing going for him was he didnt wear an eye patch.
That reminds me, I'm going to try and get him on The Albion Roar one day.
I think that would be good but not wishing to degrade you in any way Al I would suggest that having been a politician he would have dealt with many interviewers with more experience and know how of how to extract answer rather than a non committal answer from him than you.

Don't forget the real culprit in all that went on, Greg (pickled liver) Stanley, there are a few on here who thought the sun shone out of his arse.
Well he f***ing would if I got hold of him & a plaster cast.
His email reply (a fairly swift one, mind) for my request this afternoon...
Thank you for your email. I decided a very long time ago not to give any more interviews regarding the Albion because a small minority always reacted badly to whatever I said. I’m sorry they prevent such excellent mediums as Community Radio from exploring all angles of the club’s history. I do wish you every success with ‘The Albion Roar’ and I’m sure along with all Albion supporters you cannot now wait for the kick off in the new stadium (and promotion!).
I bought my first season ticket at the Albion in 1974 when the then Directors were looking for a new site to build a stadium. It’s been a very long wait.
Nothing changes.

I would actually challenge that in a small humble way, Bamber asked for his help and he reciprocated. Bamber spent way beyond the means of the club, left them in the shit and got a shark to bail him out. It started with Bamber.
Now that has wound me up than the original article. A small minority of fans?? Utter gash. Then playing the victim.? Have some balls man, just have some balls. I guess though, if you've told yourself the same lie for 15 years, then it's inevitable you'll end up believing it. A twunt who directly caused my dad seeing no more Albion in the last 2 years of his life, I have nothing but contempt for the 3 of them.
