The good news is that a lot of people have known that this is a big news story waiting to happen. As such a lot of things have been done in the last few years to stop these ceremoies - or at least to make them consential.
The only worry is that these ceremonies are now in danger of being forced underground. A better way to handle it would be to allow them on capus, but make them fully consential (you don't have to do any parts of it unless you want to) and by having designated non-drinkers looking out for people's safety.
Why does this country have to keep aping the dumbest aspects of American culture?
Schools used to have an end of year disco; not it's a 'Prom night' with sceaming 10 year olds turning up in a stretch limo that their pussy-whipped daddies have paid for.
And now our universities are adopting US-style initiaition ceremonies and 'Frat boy' events.
