Worthing
anyone else read about gus trying to turn hoyte into a premiership player, what a waste of time we are going to attempt to teach him to be good enough for the premiership and what do we get for this? he makes to many mistakes. poyet also says he has the ability to recover who cares we dont want someone who fucks up and occasionally corrects themselfs we want someone who wont f*** up loads.

for me Whing is the best RB we have atm stop mucking around with hoyte, we will get nothing from him even if poyet can get him to become good he will only go back to Arsenal and that will be the last we see of him

I personally think he should have gone in the summer, hasn't really seemed the same player since the start of the season, however this may be down to the injury.

I like Whing or though he gets far to many silly bookings for my liking and I would certainly have him other Hoyte who i do not rate at all

People were sucked in to vote for him by his commitment and last ditch tackles which most of were caused by him in the first place. When he came here was like a shining beacon and was a good full back sadly he has dropped off, I dont know the reason why this has happened but it certainly shows now, and I think that he will now be looking at Div 2 as being his level.

I do wonder sometimes if you've been to a game in the last 10 years, or infact if you have a clue what you're talking about.
Everything you say on here tends to be bollocks.
This is right up with the best of them.
Whing was the only player who gave a f*** all of last season, except maybe Owusu. Every game, he gave it his all. He isn't the most technically gifted, but he committed to the cause, and has been a fantastic servant to this club.
I feel he has faded away a tad this season, and maybe we should be looking at allowing him to find a new club.
But ultimately, he WAS player of the season last season.

For me Whing is the sort of player who will recover from most mistakes and save the day but sometimes as this season his last ditch tackles will end up with a penalty being awarded if in thw wrong place.....Hoyte just hasn't shown me anything at all not sure what he done at the Arse but he certainly isn't doing it here....Calderon is a complete mystery and only time will tell...so me for one would probably give Whingy a few more games and send hoyte back to release funds for some-one else...

Very ordinairy lower league journeyman.

Some of the chippy comments on here show what utter mediocrity weve been forced into accepting over the last few years.

No real loss at all...

To be honest I thought Whing looked overweight when he played earlier in the season and up against speedy forwards often had to bring them down giving away free kicks in dangerous places.

His commitment came about as a result of the mistakes he made in the first place.

When he first came here he was very good but has gone downhill steadily.

Not been the same player as last season and no where near the player he was when he first got here under Wilkins. Whether that is fitness, injury or just the game getting faster with him losing a bit of pace I don't know. Shame if he does go but its football and these things happen. Personally think Hoyte and Bennett have a good understanding down the right with pace to spare

think Whing is so much better than Hoyte, would be really gutted if he left...

Where have you heard this? We needed cover at right back, and that what Gus has done brought in this Spaniard to fight for places. He wants Whingy and Hoyte to fight for it. I would rather have a experienced centre back through and a creative midfielder, but hopefully he will bring them in next week.....

He has said he wants a smaller squad, so there are going to be more players leaving than coming. No idea of his thinking on who goes and when but we will see more changes this month I guess and a load more in the summer.

Whing is the worst thing I've ever seen... and not just in football.

Anybody who's played the game, at any level, could tell he was 100% substance over style and (sadly) in these flair times... that aint gonna cut it.

Poyet wants a passing team, not an effort/ability = relegation equation.

You do the math.

Kosh

Oh dear!

Look, Whing's positioning and tackling are far better than Hoyte's... he (Whing) is a defender, and we need DEFENDERS in defence... not the best passers in the world...

We are conceding too many goals at the moment... restoring Whing would help improve our stats, IMHO...

Seems like a big gamble by GP to me. Calderon may be good (and Gus may know about that) and he MAY adapt to English third division football - but then again, he might not. If he does flop, I'd rather have Whing than Hoyte to fill the gap, although I guess El Abd could do a job there (but heaven help us if we get a defensive injury crisis!)
