It will be the same as the Eduardo incident.

It'd be massively inconsistent for FIFA to ban Henry. They have (rightly I suppose) refused to order/allow a replay because the referee's decision on the pitch is final. But if they punish Henry, then they are OFFICIALLY saying the ref got it wrong and the goal shouldn't stand. Which is what they said they can't do in the first place.

Oh well fun and games.

it is dull as fook if you dont happen to be irish , i wonder if this incidents result would have been the same if for arguments sake brazil were the unfortunates that were on the recieving end of such a blatant mis justice of refereeing and his assistants fuckwittedness, but yes ,its not me so why should i bother attitude seems to have taken over now.

Its not particularly exciting for us to be fair! We are not going to the world cup, Sepp Blatter is taking the piss out of us as a footballing nation, and we couldn't give a toss what happens to Henry from here on out.

shame they backed down on that, it seemed for a moment they were going to do somthing productive. theres absolutly no precedent or rule with which to punish Henry, the best they can do is learn from it and bring in a new regulation for the future.

He has made a name for himself :- Henry Handball, a shame because before this incident he was known as a class act.

TV technology would work just fine for this, but FIFA are a bunch of cockjugglers so refuse to bow to pressure. All they need to do is do what they do in cricket & tennis... give each team 2 appeals by replay each game. And just do it for international & top flight games. Simple

They should also copy the Rugby League & Ozzie Rules over here. Anyone caught on TV doing dangerous play are hauled in front of a league disciplinary committee a few days after the game & given bans. FIFA should do the same for diving. Problem solved

I suspect players from every team who have qualified have dived, tugged shirts etc.. How many dodgy dives did Leon do in our stripes - embarrassing and comical at times, but we never turned down a dodgy pen. Owen and Gerrard have been kings of the dive with three lions on their chests ...
Ireland were ten minutes away from a penalty shoot out, not qualification as the hype seems to imply. Laurent Blanc missed w.cup final due to Croation cheating and, way back, Platini and his band of brothers missed out at Euros in 84 after Battiston assaulted by W.german keeper, England won world cup with help of Russian lino, but Jules Rimet's still gleaming.

(Sh) it happens, stop hypocritical persecution of one of the most exciting players of the past decade, who has had the good grace to apologise for his 'crime'.

It would be a joke to ban Henry.it is the ref's role to spot foul play and FIFA should punish him and the linesman. if we start banning people for committing offences then half the players due to turn up at the World Cup would be banned. Obviously, the Irish are going to be pissed off whatever the verdict though...

Agreed. The only way for this to be resolved is to ensure that mistakes like this don't happen again. And that is by introducing a video referee for controversial issues in the box like the Henry incident. But Sepp Blatter is gutless and we will probably have to wait for a change in FIFA leadership before common sense is finally applied.

This is so badly managed it is unreal.

Either every player who cheats (of which there are loads) is investigated or new technology not individuals being hung out to dry.
