anyone know how to turn off this stupid thing. I use Google Chrome where it picks random words and highlights them, bloody annoying.
It isn't picking up random words, it is picking up words that you have spelled incorrectly. I find it fairly useful once you get around the fact it has an American dictionary only.
Have a look in the wrench, settings, extensions as see what is running. If you have alot have one page up with the text that is highlighted, disable them one by one (each time refreshing the other text page) and see which one it is. Then just leave that nasty little bugger off.
On extensions all i got is AVG safe search, d'ya think thats it?
no thats Anti Virus that tells you on a google search if the site is safe or check a webpage before it loads. Might want to keep that.
Is it only on NSC that you get it because a advert tool is run on the text by Bozza to increase site revenue i think.
Nah - I've not put anything like that on here. Malware.
Follow my link, as we have all said malware, download an anti-malware program e.g.

I see the iphone link too, but the malware software did clean up my issue, NSC = your one stop shop for everything you could possibly need advice on!
