If it means anything, Bazball comes down to people playing how they feel most comfortable. That might mean Foakes scoring at about 2.5 an over, it might mean Duckett leaving 7 balls across his first 10 tests or whatever it was.
As it happens, this innings was actually a bit slow by Root's standards over his whole career.
It's worth bearing in mind that England have been drastically less prone to dramatic collapses since Stokes/McCullum took over.

Not sure I'm with you on that. Foakes didn't feature much (if at all) over the summer. Duckett plays that way. I have my own thoughts about it, but will reserve judgement for the mo on that. All I'll say is that:
-- Root played differently today than he has in the previous Tests in this series -- I'm interpret it as our best batsman (ever?) indicating that he wants to play how he feels most comfortable ...
-- ... which isn't how he's played during this series and probably also earlier in the Bazball regime too.

I think Bazball is about aggressive cricket, and also trying to inject entertainment into Test cricket to put it back on the perch that you and I regard it to be on -- but a declining audience % regard it to be on

He’s not. He’s suggesting India will bat better than the England top order, and so the pitch won’t look as troublesome.

Which, if it’s meant to suggest that it was only made to LOOK dodgy by England’s poor shot selection - is silly in this case. A ball like Stokes has got there, is unplayable - nobody survives that, irrespective of how aggressive or circumspect they are being.

The 112-5 yesterday was not down to England Bazballing, only 1 wicket fell to an attacking shot. But Root being Root was wonderful to see. I didn't get how folk were saying he isn't what he was or his place was under threat. He averaged over 60 last year.

There is a lot in the pitch for the bowlers as it stands. If England get close to 400 they have no excuse.

wtf are India doing preparing pitches like this? This game could well be decided by the toss. They should be battering us due to quality of spinners but the pitch is a leveller. Any club player could get wickets on this ffs.
