People of my age and who have followed cricket for a while might be interested to know that Mike Proctor has passed at the age of 77

An exert from an article on the bbc website

Mike was a fantastic player and quite rightly regarded as one of the best all-rounders that has ever represented Gloucestershire," former team-mate David Graveney said.

"I don't think people realise that when Mike played he was playing through great pain in his knee, but that didn't stop him from performing at the level he did.
Should be of interest to anybody who cares about cricket (and certainly anybody who's watched a game at Nevil Road).

A small lead of ooh 556 as England go out to bat again. Jaiswal another double century, Sarfaraz 60 odd not out.
A lively session after lunch, with Jimmy being despatched for 3 consecutive 6s in one over. I think Sarfaraz was dropped twice; once by Root and once by Foakes.

A proper caning incoming.

Will they just go Bazball and have day 5 off? Is there any point in even tryring to play for 550/4 sessions?

All stemmed from giving them an unnecessarily huge first innings lead after some truly shit batting after lunch yesterday.

No way they'd have batted with that confidence if the scores were close after the two first innings as they should have been.

This might be record defeat territory

Aside from the first test fight back and about 2 hours in this test we’ve looked as clueless as ever against India away, problem with Englands style is in a game where you can’t win, there is no way to bat out the draw.

50-7.

England just have to take this one on the chin and move on. They’ve underperformed badly but the newer Indian batters have been a revelation. I think the likes of Michael Vaughan come across as very greasily opportunistic with their attacks on Bazball

Great fast bowler and yes a unique bowling action - fits with my memories of the great 1 day games from the early 70s - RIP Mike
I had his action….bowled off the wrong foot, whirly straight arm!

when I got it right I was pretty swift but because of the action couldn’t bowl outswingers…..most of my wickets were in swingers caught behind…never got an LBW although.
