Tim:
While the Olympics and Wembley developments are of national importance does the minister acknowledge the importance of local community stadiums such as the one proposed by Brighton and Hove Albion and supported by Brighton City Council?

Tessa Jowell: I certainly acknowledge the importance of good local stadiums to provide modern facilities for local teams and a decent environment for spectators. As a government, we've made great efforts to increase the investment in grass roots football, particularly through the Football Foundation.

Tessa Jowell: Thanks to all the people who have emailed from Brighton about the local stadium, which, as a planning matter, is for John Prescott to determine.

Fair enough, wasn't expecting anything else really.

In my defence, I was left unsupervised.

Just out of interest I received this email this morning from newlabour.org.uk:

Tim-

Thank you for taking part in the Big Conversation. Even though we received nearly 60 questions for Tessa Jowell, your question was answered.
--------------------------------------

Only 60 questions? How many of those were about Falmer?

In London village.
I got this email response:

"Thank you for submitting to the Big Conversation question and answer session on 9 February with MP Tessa Jowell. She answered as many questions as she could however, she was unable to answer your question do (sic) to time constraints. Please continue to participate in the Big Conversation, as MP
Paul Boateng will be answering questions on Wednesday 11 February"

Perhaps we could ask him about the economic consequences of economic regeneration linked to sport action zones ?

I have been looking on the internet for contact details (email would be best) for the team working on the London 2012 Olympic bid, particularly Barbara Cassani , and have had no luck so far. Perhaps you guys might have more luck and can post them on here for me. Have tried this website but with no luck

http://www.london2012.org

Part of the bidding process is to demonstrate that new stadiums and other facilities can be built not only in London but also throughout the country. OK so Falmer probably won't be a venue, but there would be plenty of Athletes and teams based down here wanting first class training facilities of the sort that Falmer will provide. Seeing as the government is backing the bid 100% it won't look good if the first regional stadium to come up for development after the bid was announced is refused.

Any negative points, no matter how small, with the London 2012 bid could prove costly in the future bidding process. Maybe the London 2012 team may be interested in supporting our case. It is worth a go, hence the need for some contact details!
