I was reminded the other day of the time when my mum and dad met Garry Nelson in a carpet shop and ended up buying the same carpet as him. What's your most tenuous link to an Albion player past or present? What's your Lame to Fame?
John Crumplin’s cousin does my mother in laws decorating. And he’s not even met the legend! Some family, I’d be dining out on that all the time if he was mine!

Probably not the right thread for this story, but when I worked for a car insurance company way back, the manager wearily announced he had 2 free tickets for the windscreen cup against the mighty Walsall that night. Me and another guy were the only ones interested. Sitting in West Stand someone asked if we'd mind presenting the mom champers after the game. So I wandered on to the hallowed turf proudly wearing my stonewashed jeans and handed the bottle to the lucky player. (It was Paul McCarthy by the way).

My youngest daughter's godmother's son played for BHAFC yoof with there's-only-one-Glen-Murray's step-son and would take turns taking them to Lancing and back with GM.

When I was about 8 years old they had a fete on Hellyers Green in Littlehampton.
I won a box of Liquorice Pipes ( look them up ) and John Templeman gave me my prize.

I joined this forum called north stand chat where I read stories of people’s links to Albion players, some were incredible especially the ski lift one.

Who was that young irish midfielder we had on loan from Coventry while we were at Withdean ? Racking my brain to remember his name, ginger lad I think.

I've got a story about him.

We knew Richie Barker before he signed for us.
My son captained a Sunday U15 team with his brother Chris Barker (RIP) in it. So got to meet him on the touchline.

When I was a first year, I started dating a young Manc girl called Emma. Unfortunately, within days of copping off with her, she had to leave the school as her dad had a new job in Norwich.

Her Dad was Joe Corrigan.

I Lost my virginity to Jamie Morallee’s cousin.
Although I‘ve always wondered if she invented the Morallee link to keep me interested. Saddo that I am, it did extend the relationship by a couple of weeks.

He only went on loan. Sounds like a cowardly dumping to me.

We used to put up triallists for John Shepherd and we had a mate of Jimmy Case’s brother lodging with us for three weeks. JC turned up at ours one evening in his XR3 and took us to a reserve game where we sat with him in the West Stand. Crap game, good company!
