The Astral Planes, man...
I used to work with a bloke called Dan Harding (not the footballer), every time I saw him I wanted to boo him, which made me chuckle. He must have thought I was a right weirdo. (A good judge of character was our Dan), (not the footballer).

My mum went for a job interview in Hove when I was little . . . . to be Brian Cloughs secretary.

She couldn't get out of there fast enough. ✊🏽

Can it be a non-playing member of staff?

If so, I was once in the same cinema queue with Paul Barber at Brighton Marina waiting to watch the film "1917"

I once sat next to Gerry Fell. The unfortunate man. He and his wife were guests of honour at the St Luke's Primary School Jubilee celebrations in 1977.

We paraded round the streets on floats with me sitting beside him having absolutely nothing to do with my Mum organising the event.

The problem for him was I could never shut my gob and kept asking him question after question about the season. I have a picture of the poor soul looking vacantly towards the camera with me turned towards him, seemingly firing of a another random observation of our promotion glory.

In 1963 we were looking to move from Rottingdean to Portslade/Southwick. Dad looked at a house on the Old Shoreham Road, but we opted instead for Foredown Drive, Portslade.

The house he had looked at was subsequently bought by/for Peter O'Sullivan. Legendary Albion player, singed from ManUre, for younger readers. Lovely hair. And later, lovely tash.

As dad reminded us every time we drove past it, on the way to Shoreham Beach or Rustington in the summer.

One of these it may have been:

Pretty sure there were a few club houses there back in the 60s - Dave Turner lived there somewhere.

I sat next to Adam Chicksen’s girlfriend’s Dad on a ski-lift in Austria once. Is that obscure enough?
Adam Chicksen and his girlfriend once walked past me in Churchill Square. I also saw Lewis Dunk in Morrisons. He's a big lad.

Jake Robinson’s mum is (or was) a nurse at my doctor’s surgery, she removed the stitches out of my head after an accident.

Not a player but I did some plumbing work for Dick Knight at his house in Hove.
She still is, and gives me my flu jab every year.

I worked in the next office to Chris McPhee’s Dad.

Oh, of course. How could I forget.

In 1979 I worked behind the bar in the Royal Pavillion Tavern. Shades. Most of the barmen (it was just men) were recently ex students between college and career. Some Albion players came in one lunch time.

" 'Ere chief, you got change for the cigarette machine?"

It was Mark 'Lauro' Lawrenson.

Bloke working with me said, after I had given the great man change for 20 Rothmans:

"Did you hear that. One million pounds just asked you for change for the cigarette machine"

Bloke working with me was John Gillett, who had just graduated in English from Sussex, and after leaving the pub got a scholarship at RADA, and became Aden Gillett, the actor. Bless you, John, wherever you are. x

One of my mates at school back in the day reckoned his sister once dated Mark Lawrenson. I'd take this with a pinch of salt though. He was a right lying git.

I have another. When I was 7-11, I used to play jumpersforgoalposts football in Easthill Park Portslade with Michael and Kevin Foreman, sons of the great Denis, who lived on Park Close, next door to my pal. Andy M, with whom I went to gigs and the Hungry Years, often with @monty uk

Oh, and we occasionally kicked the ball over the fence of a house at the end of Highlands Road, where lived Alex Ooo Ooo Dawson. I seem to recall his missus would chuck them back over. Fifty two sodding years ago, FFS.

Barry Lloyd presented me with 2 trophies at a Crowborough & District League presentation evening in about 1985. Told him I supported the Albion, not sure he cared !

I saw the club's former Poet Laureate and at least two other NSC posters, one very regular and erudite, play at the resources centre. f***ing shit, they were

And I shared a flat with the singer of the band who disrupted said poet laureate and chums in an unpleasant manner on one occasion. You can molest me all you like but no further clues forthcoming.
