As I said in a previous .. if you like to listen to good (easy listening old fav's) live music, watch the world pass by with good booze and food wander down the coastal path here https://www.facebook.com/Coqueluche-beach-bar-409391692552901/ get yourself there for 3.30 on a Sunday for best seats, people watch and be right there as paragliders land in front of you. Probably my favourite place on the island on a Sunday afternoon

We're in Malta now no tests were needed to come out but we has to get a LFT done 3 days before coming home, no real aggro. Just glad to get away after so long.

Anybody know if the hmgov 'recommendation' of pre-flight PCR tests for coming home from Canaries is actually just that, a recommendation? Can you still turn up at Canaries boarding gate with a pre-flight lateral flow test? Asking for a friend hopefully going to Fuerteventura in 4 weeks. Ta.

Can't be a self test has to be don't by a registered surgery and hard copy of on headed paper of negative test.

I’m in Costa Adeje right now too! Arrived Saturday and our game with Watford was whilst I was in the air, first thing I saw on landing was the result…..get in!

We booked 2 weeks 3 days before travel, but I know the covid travel drills now.

Being completely honest and without wanting to sound arrogant etc, the flight was a bit if a nightmare, full of chav types, and good few Jeremy Kyle wannabes, rough families shouting across the aircraft pissed, good few had to be told repeatedly to put masks on as they kept taking them off, some old dear in row in front of us, coughing her guts up none stop. Made my wife uncomfortable. We’ve been to Gran Canaria and Tenerife loads (always in winter normally) and it’s often oldies/retirees… this was the butlins crowd.

At Tenerife airport. took and hour to get through with biggish queues at airport, a few flights arrived at same time, COVID checks and random tests slowed it down plus just 2 officers on passport control and way to many people for that amount. In resort it’s all good as ST said it’s all well managed with mask wearing protocols etc in indoor public places being followed.

The journey here wasn’t that enjoyable. And a lot of people you’re unlikely to socialise with at the pool, if you catch the drift! We were going to go back to Maspalomas in GC but came here as the nicest bitt there, Meloneras is all boarded up and in some renovations.

Car hire is a problem in the canaries now, if you planned it, they’ve cut capacity by 80% due COVID, so what there is goes fast and prices becomes nuts. I booked through holiday autos, with a local company called top car as only 500 euro excess compared to much higher with others, FYI, as it’s fully refundable up to 24 hours before, knowing I was going to go to Tenerife or Gran Canaria and having checked flights times, I booked car in both places, 13 days in a normal size hatchback was £432 in Tenerife, £385 in Gran Canaria one week before we left, 3 days out I cancelled GC on booking Tenerife and GC was now £575, Tenerife now £660 for same car, same time and same company. Day before travel it was now £790.

If you plan in using a car book today! If you want any tips on tests (I took return to uk test with me - £25 per person with £5.95 next day delivery). Just ask.

See you here soon maybe!
How are you going to get a letter headed test result? UK airports won't accept self tests?

Isn't it just NHS self-tests that UK airports won't accept?

The tests that must be taken within 3 days of return to the UK, must come from a test provider.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-testing-for-people-travelling-to-england

Googling your destination, you’ll find loads of labs or clinics doing this. Book in advance. We did in Ibiza, it took just 10 minutes of holiday when a courier came to our hotel. If staying in a hotel, call them before you do this, as many carry out these tests in-house for guests.

There are test providers that will accept a video recording or photo if you taking the test and issue a certificate.

A couple of posters mentioned a shortage of cars available to hire (it's the same on the mainland too), but www.doyouspain.com is usually a good go to site for the keenest prices. We have a 4x4 booked for Fuerteventura in a fortnights time as our birding trips take us off road and it was half the price via them rather than going directly to the supplier.

One blessing for us is the trip counts as an internal flight so just need our vaccination certs.

I don't think I'll bother, couldn't be ar*ed with all that mucking about and unpleasantness.

As much as I would like to get away for a sunny break I'm not desperate.

Whilst I understand your sentiments I’m on the other end of the scale, the only reason I get up and go to work is purely to fund holidays and going away,

Having to endure a year and a half of not getting away was hell.
Having done my tax return last year a found that I did 34 days more work last year simply because I was not able to get away so stayed home and carried on earning.

So having to navigate a few piece of paperwork and a couple of tests I don’t see this as a obstacle.

This place looks awesome. My Dad has an apartment in Adeje in Mare Verde and we often walk to playa del Duque with the kids as its normally quiet but must admit we've never gone this far and this bar looks good. Can you walk all the way along the beach front to get there? Does it do food?

Would like a restaurant with a nice view but we aren't massively fussy about high end restaurants. Seen a few of them Inc a Michelen star place but we just don't enjoy it any more. A friend is looking after the kids one night and we want to go for dinner.

Also, any other Albion fans in Adeje right now want to meet up for the Everton game Saturday???

It's great for sitting right on the beach, listening to good (live) music and watching those paragliders come in, the food is fairly simple, traditional and very good.

You can walk all the way along from Del Duque on the waterfront path. Indeed if you go a further 5/6 minutes on you are in the 'heart' of La Caleta with numerous restaurants if you want a more formal meal (some high end, most not but all of them are excellent, Salitre is one of my fav's - great fish ... but tripadvisor is your friend here) You could wander on there after a drink or two.

As for the beach bar, it gets busy and so I generally get there for 3.30ish as music starts at 4.00. I've never stayed beyond 6.00 but I think the entertainment goes on fairly late, certainly the food does

this , i also find most the people i encounter who say they cant be arsed etc ...... that comment just reflects their life and they have zero get up and go to do anything that takes effort

Hearing the gaff I am staying in has introduced shifts around the pool, so you can pick morning or afternoon. Which I'm not particularly happy about to be honest.

How did you find youdospain.com. I am looking at hiring a car this summer, and they do seem to have great deals, but I am concerned they are a little too good to be true.

If you're going to Canaries? For car hire I wouldn't recommend doyouspain as whilst prices may be a bit cheaper than say hertz they will still come with decent size excess.

In canaries try.
1. Cicar
2. Autoreisen

Both local, competitive prices, good cars, plenty of availability and most importantly zero excess. When you book it doesn't ask for any credit card and on desk you only pay rental, no deposit, zero excess.

Use Cicar all the time and autoreisen on occasion

On no account go Goldcar in the Canaries. Their strapline price looks tempting. But... they do sneaky stuff. Like take €1000 off your credit card on account before they give you the car. And because the rental agreement is in Spanish, you'll doubtless not notice that by default they've included insurance that assumes you'll be wanting to visit a different Canary Island in your hire car during your one or two week stay

The queue at Fuerteventura airport for Goldcar is twice the size of queues for other car hire firms, and moves twice as slowly, as they lure in the suckers. Avoid! Bruv lives in Fuerteventura for part of the year. On his recommendation we go Autoreisen. Class act, never had anything other than a positive experience with them
