Was this the GREATEST night at Withdean?

I remember going absolutely MENTAL when the goal went in, ending up a couple of rows closer to the pitch.

Great times

I love the look of utter, utter disbelief on the face of the Swindon fan at 0:24 of that video - priceless.

Greatest night from that moment on, but before that it was a poor game and we were rubbish. After that moment everything was just amazing, Great pitch invasion after the penalties.

My over riding memory of that night is all the early leavers rushing back in after Virgo's goal

I remember it was a beautiful day much like yesterday, with warm sunshine. The around 5.30-6pm, it got incredibly dark and we had a downpour of biblical proportions. We were soaked through to the skin during the evening, but after that goal and consequent penalty shootout, nobody cared.

Yep that's one of my over-riding memories too. I got to the ground rather early and the rain and thunderstorm at aroung 6ish was immense. I remember seeking shelter in the loo and after one impressive clap of thunder, the tannoy started playing The Beach Boys 'Good Vibrations' .. how could we possibly lose!?*

When i got home i literally had to dry my money on the radiator - that's how wet it was.

*well we did lose - 1-2 on the night!

It was an incredible night, but personally I prefer the night we beat Cheaterfield at Withdean, from the giant brown envelope to putting it beyond doubt that even without their point deduction we were still the champions. Also they were tw*ts.

So dire was most of the game, I came very close to doing a Pornomagboy and got up to go home. When Virgo scored, I was trudging disconsolately along that little corridor at the back of the North stand.

So which was the BEST night at Withdean? This, Cheaterfield or Something Else (Man City?)?

Man City was good but so was the 4-3 against Dagenham & Redbridge where they scored within a minute of kick off. We knew that a win would get us promoted. It was the final evening match at Withdean and the winning goal was from Bridcutt. 'The stuff of champions, the stuff of dreams'

10 years ago... wow... where has the time gone.

This was by far the best game of football ever. The twists and turns. Swindon were hot favs. I remember watching the penaties from the edge of the pitch. The rain hammering down. I remember skidding on the pitch after with Biscuit, jumping on the players backs, was an amazing night. More exciting than the play off final to me.
