Looks like it’s done as Sporting have made an official statement that Man United have paid/agreed to pay the 10m release clause.
Surely they've got to be struggling with PSR? Sounds like getting rid of Ten Hag and appointing Amorim is going to cost them around £30m, just after a £100m net spend in the summer, a £130m net spend the year before and a £200m net spend the year before that.

I get that they have more leeway than most because of their commercial success and all, but that doesn't sound healthy...

Just listening to Football Weekly and it was pointed out that all of the Sir Jim/Ineos sporting projects aren't exactly flying along currently across the board.

All the Football teams mid table, Mercedes F1 struggling, the cycling team far off its Team Sky pomp, even the All Blacks no longer the best team in the world in Rugby Union.

Could be a case of be careful what you wish for for United fans with them!

Can't believe they spent so much money on players for Ten Hag in the Summer despite clearly still holding significant doubts about his ability to take the club forward - now looks extremely wasteful.

Bit of insight here which I found interesting:

Rather sad for Van Nistelrooy as he's probably not even got his personal name plate sent from Staples yet.

Why can managers be sacked and replaced out of a window , but players can't ? Short of terminating contracts (expensive), players at any club, not performing at the required level, can't be got rid off until January, why should that not to apply to managers/coaches ?

Amorim behaved like a bit of a prick in the summer with West Ham. Now he wants to manage Sporting on Friday before ‘revealing’ what he’s going to do next. Comes across as a walking ego, which is maybe what is needed at ManU, but it didn’t work out well for Mourinho. I’m not sure how confident I’d be if I were a ManU fan.
