And paint the walls a nice pastel colour and the coving white. I reckon a car port might add a few quid to the house price as well.

I LOVE a good car port. Anything that can take a simple plank of wood nailed to a bit of corrugated plastic and make it sound sexy gets a thumbs up from me

You're lucky. I've spent WAY too long living in a 70's conversion flat with artex ceilings throughout. a.k.a white asbestos. Dead man walking here!

Oh, and re: coving - get a man in. You'll do fine along the lengths of the rooms but the corners are a serious three dimensional bugger to get right.

My house is full of the stuff from when we bought it. I thought about getting rid, but it is a complete ******* to remove so I just painted it jazzy colours and live with it.

Currently pulling up the wooden floor in that same room. It looked a bit silly having two big holes in the corners where the built-in wardrobes used to be.

I did that, but they had "artex" with plaster rather than artex itself so it all had to be hacked off rather that moistened and scraped.

my house is similar to this in that the walls are Artex above the picture rail, and the ceilings are Artex as well, and being built in the 30s the Artex probably has that white asbestos in it. Super health hazard here
