This doesn't make sense to me. (I know nowt about cricket).

Sussex’s Ted Dexter became the first man to score 500 runs at Hove when he hit 85 not out in a total of 141 for one, which put his side 175 ahead of Glamorgan. The Sussex captain’s aggregate was now 528.

Can anyone shed any light on it please?!!

I've looked online, but to no avail.

Thanks in advance.

Where did this information come from? I think the first reply might be right, consecutive innings with out losing a wicket!

The Times online archive.

It's my interpretation of it for a book I'm writing.

It probably doesn't make sense.

TLO, if I replace aggregate with score, does it make sense?

Do you have any idea which year this happened? If you do you can look at the archives for games during that year to confirm your statement and hopefully provide the information you require.

Either that or contact the Times online to clarify the story in question.

Thursday 12th May 1960.

Is there an online resource? It'll save you the hassle of looking it up!

Thanks in advance.

Aggregate is perfectly acceptable. It's the semantics of the English language, but personally I'd associate 'score' in this context with the total in one innings.

Alternatively, I'd say 'The Sussex captain's run total for the season was now 528.'
